Thanks Guys, i'm absolutely made up, Agouti Bear won easy.
. Makes up for her good maiden runs last season. She was meant to run at Naas last Monday, one of the reasons i went over, but it was soft. The going turned today thankfully. PHS, i was concentrating on Sligo and didn't even see the Longchamp race. I backed Sibayan at 3.2 for the 2/TBP and AB at average odds over 5.0. A good day ![]()

Good evening Guys,
Many thanks for all your posts, what a superb day, albeit not solely due to financial gain, i've had better, but Agouti Bear winning in Ireland was a wonderful start to the afternoon. The only negative is i wasn't on course to see it, as i was at Naas on Monday when she wasn't declared as envisaged the previous week. I've been incredibly lucky as an syndicate owner, 10% in Salamanca Lad who won 3 from 11 runs, nearly a 4th and was only out of the first 3 places twice. He won over 17k and sold for almost a 100% mark-up (after costs) at the HIT sales last October. Agouti Bear is no longer a maiden with form figures of 2-2-4-6-1 and prize money of almost 18,000 euros, not bad for a lightly raced 3 year old filly. Betting wise, one of those days when everything goes right with Agouti Bear (average odds over 5) Cinderella's Dream, Desert Flower (my largest bet at 6/4) and Sibayan for the 2/TBP at Longchamp. I also made a small profit on Calibos (SP) and Agouti Bear EW (5/1) double so a 100% day and a few bob richer. Yesterday, my favourite football team (lifetime supporter) Bristol City made it to play-offs for the Premiership that was icing on the cake. Stewarts Rise Yes my daughter is well happy and has probably spent the prize money already . For those not aware, i gave the share to my Daughter as a Christmas present in 2023; i pay the bills, she gets to keep any prize money and we will split the sale proceeds 50% each when she is sold eventually. With her winning earlier, her brood value has certainly increased.PHS Correct, 7020 euros for winning this afternoon, but nowhere near enough to pay a years training fees, she would need to win a couple more to cover them, or win a better race. Mind you, costs are cheaper in Ireland and prize money is better than UK. The way i see it, it's paying for 'entertainment' and going to the races as an owner is an enjoyable experience, i've had some fantastic times with friends i go racing with, including posters on here and in 3 different countries, so i can thoroughly recommend it. I can't comment if she will go to the paddocks this year or not, simply as i don't know, and i doubt it's even been discussed with Kildare Racing yet. Good luck and have a nice evening all. As mentioned at the start of this thread, my workload may be a restraint to posting during the week, but lets see. I'm off to Paris on Saturday lunchtime for Longchamp the following day (2000 and 1000 Guineas meeting) so i could send news from there. If next Sunday is anything like today, i will relax in Paris for rest of the week. ![]()

Thanks, and for the PHS clarification. I was still on cloud 9 and thought He meant breeding. Correct, monthly costs are reduced when she's out in the field over the winter. I bought her (share) in November 2023 and she didn't make her debut at the Curragh until 17th August 2024, but then she had 3 more quick runs.

Happy days Andrew, congrats on the Sligo win and good luck in the play offs. Friends of mine who go to the match think they have a chance and with what the manager has been through this season there won't be a dry eye in the house if it happens. All the best.

Kalaglow/Bristol CC,
Thank you. Exciting times for sure and City getting through to the play-off final at Wembley would be more than icing on the cake after last weekend. I've been supporting them since i was knee high to a Grasshopper, my Bristol born Dad was a fan and it grew from there although i didn't actually go to Ashton gate until i was around 12 when we lived in Bedminster after leaving Cornwall. I followed them as a teenager and went to quite a few obscure grounds, but then i discovered girls as you do . I rarely watch them live these days, although i was at Wembley in 2008 when we lost 1-0 in the same play off, and if we get there again, it's 100% i will go.Sheffield will not be easy and i would have preferred Sunderland who we beat recently, but once you get to this stage, it's almost a lottery so fingers crossed. Changing topic, after Agouti Bear winning yesterday, she will be raised 6lb to a mark of 80. Have a nice evening all.

Moonlight Artist - 18.40 Warwick A 7 year old Pethers Moon Gelding trained by Joe Tizzard. Winner of a hurdle and chase, the latter over CD LTO. Looks to have improved a little by wind surgery with form figures of 2-1 since, although the form could be up for scrutiny. In his penultimate race there were 8 runners, although only 5 finished and a couple of those were more or less tailed off. Jumped to the right at many of the fences and was receiving 17lb from the winner. Ran off the same mark (77) in a 8 runner field LTO and won by a neck, but the runner-up threw any chance he had by jumping to the right. A couple of runners didn't finish and another was tailed off. Up 5lb today and a it looks an open handicap bar the rag with 2 of the field winning LTO, one of them in better class, although this one does concede a fair bit of weight. Whilst he could improve again and has run off higher marks in the past, i'm happy to take him on at the odds. Good evening Guys,
The lay selection Moonlight Artist (7/4f) was prominent for much of the 24f chase, but 4 fences out i was confident layers would collect after a mistake, but he wouldn't have won jumping it cleanly anyway. Finished last of the 4 that did finish the race, but tailed off, beaten almost 50L. Mind you i couldn't have had the winner (22/1) there wasn't anything in the form book to suggest he would win. 2025 Lay P/L Status
Note the Running Form refers to the bet not the result. Many thanks for the posts. Bristol CC and Kalaglow Unfortunately, my team Bristol City lost the Premiership the first leg play off 0-3 against Sheffield Utd last Thursday and have a mountain to climb in the return match on Monday. There is more chance of a naked Ana De Armas knocking on my hotel room with a bottle of Champagne and a couple of glasses asking if she can stay the night than my lot going to Wembley, but stranger things have happened in football. ![]() Uptheirons I understand your comment about the Premiership being a poison chalice, but you have to strive to improve or what's the point of it all. There are 18 teams in the championship that would have gladly swapped position with us before last Thursday; to be honest even the most ardent city fan would have expected us to do a Burnley if we did get promoted, there's a massive gulf between the divisions and we are not a rich club. Onwards and upwards. Penzance Acting like a Diva is now with Jim Goldie, but i suspect she will not do anything until much later in the year, then win at double figure odds. Have a nice evening all.

Good morning guys,
In the AF lounge at CDG airport after a short, but good weekend in Paris for the Longchamp guineas meeting yesterday. Readers of my thread know i'm a big fan of Zarigana; in my opinion the best 2 year old filly in France last season (she wasn't on ratings). I had already backed her AP at 6/4 for the classic and added to that on course, although i was surprised at the PMU return of 1.80 (ISP 11/10) i was expecting closer to evens. My afternoon was all about the filly, and the very few bets i had didn't result in a return, including a lay of Henry Matisse, albeit only small stakes. In the race i was hoping Mickael Barzalona would sit in about 4th or 5th, but she was closer to the rear with only a few behind her early on. When she started her run i thought she might get home and as they went past the post thought she had, so did the cameraman concentrating on her and the photo showed it between 2-4, but when the replay was shown shortly afterwards, it was clear she was beaten a nose and the TV screens changed to a photo between 4-2. I was berating MB, just as i had last year on Arc day as i felt he gave the filly too much to do. I wasn't initially aware of the objection, but noticed TV cameras were in the stewards room and it did seem to go on a bit. Later the stands erupted when the news came the winner had been DQ. Watching the head-on, the original winner did drift left, you don't see this on the side view and Zarigana was definitely bumped; MB stated the filly was unbalanced by it, although he would of course, he also lost his whip. Maybe i got lucky, it's difficult to say with any certainty, but sometimes you need luck in racing and i felt this was compensation for Arc day. I read she could go to the Coronation stakes at RA next month (currently 6/1) but whether she can beat our Guineas winner and will Ascot suit her is another story. I had a lot on today, but i will not be lumping at RA and i hope she stays in France, but if she did win, it would reinforce my opinion of her. Good luck and have a nice Monday.

Good evening Guys,
PHS ![]() I never work on a Sunday and only occasionally go to the office on a Saturday morning; even then it's more a case of private issues rather than company business. I haven't been posting much as i've been travelling a fair bit recently, including Longchamp for the recent Guineas meeting and Linköping last weekend for 3 days. Off to Dublin on Friday morning as Agouti Bear was planned to be a runner at the Curragh in the afternoon, but isn't entered. Flights and a hotel night already booked so i will still go, it's another box to tick off as i've never been to the course, so looking forward to it. Staying with Agouti Bear, the Irish handicapper dropped her 3lb to a mark of 77 as part of a mid-season adjustment, a nice surprise considering she won LTO. Her next run is probably early June. Calibos is entered to run at Windsor (20.05) on Saturday, up in trip, but weather dependant (we are hoping for rain). More on Friday. Have a nice evening all.

Good morning Guys,
A short, but enjoyable stay in Dublin for my first visit to the Curragh on Friday afternoon, initially arranged as Agouti Bear was planned to run in the handicap (17.45) but didn't. I knew this last week, but my flight and hotel were already booked so i went anyway; i've always wanted to go to the Curragh and i love going over to Ireland anyway. I really liked the course, a visually impressive stand, compact, facilities are well located and a good unrestricted view in a beautiful setting. The weather could have been better, it was actually bright and sunny when i arrived at the airport, but turned dull after lunch. I met up with the BF poster Workrider as i often do when i go over and he very kindly picked me up from my hotel (and dropped me off later). Introduced me to Jerry Hannon the commentator who sat with us (several of Workrider's friends) for a while; he didn't sound like he can do whilst working .4 KLM flights in total, transit at my favourite European airport Schiphol and a little over 24 hours in Ireland made it a bit tiring, but i would do it again in a heartbeat. Another box on my list of Irish courses ticked off after Leopardstown, Punchestown and Naas, i will certainly go back there again. AB could be running at the Curragh in early June, but more on her closer to the day. My other one, Calibos will be entered for Chepstow this Friday (2.45) although i doubt i will go. On to racing this afternoon, good cards at the Curragh and Longchamp, even the domestic NH meetings in UK look decent for a Sunday. Billy Loughnane travels over to Düsseldorf with a ride for his father in the German 1000 Guineas, although these races are never as easy as they may look on paper. Ollie Sangster also has a runner, albeit with a local jockey. I have no idea who wins. Over at Longchamp i like the Francis Graffard trained Candelari (3.28) who is less exposed than most, but it's a decent field with the cream of French stayers in the field, also Trueshan, no stranger to the course with a 1-1-2 record. My selection is lightly raced, winning 3 from 4 and should really have won LTO. Currently best priced 6/1 with the books, i will back the win and 3/TBP to cover the stake. At the Curragh, i'm not convinced Los Angeles is a backing bet in the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup (3.05) and in the G2 fillies (2.30) the heavily backed favourite will be hard to beat, but i suggest a small bet on the lightly raced Jancis, who has a good turn of foot. She's overpriced at 18/1 with the books and even 4/TBP on here is odds-against in a 8 runer field. In the opener (1.20) Cape Sunion has a favourites chance, i was at Naas when she ran well behind an AOB strong favourite and may have been a tad unlucky. The winner hasn't franked the form since, but it was in a G3 and she never got into the race after an incident leaving the stalls. It will take a decent one to beat her, although there are a lot of debutants in the field. The French Open tennis starts today and i've already backed Iga Swiatek as usual (regular readers know i am a fan). She's been out of sorts recently, but she owns this particular tournament and excels on the Paris Limestone/Red Brick dust surface that really suits her game. Not many can win here and 5.5 is a steal in my opinion, at least for a trading position on a player that has won here 4 times in the last 5 years. I like Sabalenka who is the favourite, but this surface is not for her, although she's classy enough to meet Iga in the semi final where a profit could be made. I think punters are reading too much into Iga's recent poor form (and maybe they are right) but horses for courses (not that i'm suggesting she looks like one). .I'm looking for a thread lay selection and hope to post later. Good luck and have a nice Sunday all.

Lay Post
Los Angeles - 3.05 Curragh A 4-year old Camelot gelding trained by Aidan O'Brien in County Tipperary. It's hard to knock a 5 time group race winner including a couple of these at the top level and a classic with an overall record of 6 wins in 10 runs, but you can question some of his form at least. Take the Irish Derby he won as an example, only a couple of the field have won since and one of those was in a premier handicap. In the Epsom equivalent that preceded it, he finished 3rd behind City Of Troy, but take this one out of the field and what decent middle distances runners remain. Of course there is some better form, 3rd in the Arc and winning the Great Voltigeur for example, but these are over 12f and it's just possible this is his preferred trip. There's no questioning his ability, he's genuine enough and does stay, but in my opinion that's all he does, in fact he could probably win the Royal Oak at Longchamp over 15.5f. He doesn't have a turn of foot that some of his rivals do and it's a decent field for the race, including White Birch last years winner who was touched off by the favourite LTO after a break of almost a year. Drawn in 7 isn't ideal. It should be a decent pace with Continuous in the field and this may set it up for a closer. Layers have 5 on their side and i'm happy to take the favourite on at the odds. Lay @ 3.00 Good luck all. 25-May-25 12:41:47 15:05 Curragh Los Angeles - 1m2f Grp 1 Betfair Bet ID 1:390166711432 | Matched: 25-May-25 13:10:57 Lay 3.00 50.00 -- 100.00 50.00 Matched

Good evening Guys,
PHS Thanks. Canderlari saved the day by winning at Longchamp giving me a profit on the day. Well backed (6/1 with the books earlier, PMU 4/1). A really good performance against the best stayers over there; as soon as he went for a gap he always looked like the winner with the good turn of foot he has. Next stop could be the Ascot Gold Cup where Kyprios awaits, and the 6/1 currently available with the books is a value price assuming good going, he's improving and could turn out to be a very decent stayer. As for Los Angeles, a messy race and layers may have been mugged (he was matched at 17 ITR) but take nothing away from the winner, as PHS intimated he was very game in front. The runner-up probably just needed the race, and Kalpana and White Birch both had troubled runs. In a re-match over the same distance of 10f i would certainly lay LA again. C'est la vie, that's racing and as far as the thread is concerned, i only lost the previous profit. On to tomorrow, an interesting runner at Leicester in the novice stakes (3.00) Pina Sonata who looked better than a typical class 5 winner at Wolverhampton LTO in a decent time. Has a Shadwell winner and newcomer to beat, but i have a feeling he will. Changing sports, i haven't seen any French Open tennis results yet, but Iga Swiatek is into 4.5 so she must have won her match and maybe a seed went out. 2025 Lay P/L Status
Note the Running Form refers to the bet, not the result. Have a nice Monday evening all.

Good morning Guys
A short post as i'm in the city enjoying the warm, sunny weather. Reviewing the cards last night i thought the ex-Kildare Racing owned Sonnyboyliston who was sold for over million and making hurdle debut at Listowel (2.30) was a lay selection, but liquidity is poor, in fact only £142 matched at time of posting. Decent on the flat, won the Ebor and Irish Leger, but off 32 months before a couple of runs without success. I will watch the betting on this one. A couple of small EW bets i like, both at Haydock, the lightly raced Steel Tiger (1.33) is improving slowly and if he can translate AW form to the turf could go close at double figure win odds (11.0) and 4/TBP (2.70) to cover the stake with a small profit. In the Listed Sprint (2.33) the consistent filly Balmoral Lady from an in-form stable ran well on season debut under top weight and will strip fitter today. Another one who is improving. If there is a shortie to back at odds-against, Shaha, another at Haydock (2.58) looks a filly to follow after her win in Listed class at Goodwood LTO. Up a notch to G3 she has the David O'Meara entry to beat, but this one would probably prefer it softer. Currently odds of 2.76. Iga Swiatek continues to advance in the French Open Women's Tennis, but tomorrow is her hardest test so far when she meets Elena Rybakina. Good luck and have a nice Saturday all.
