Load of rubbish again here. The ride given to Evaluation was no different from that given to other horses any day of the week. It was not unusual; it was however not well judged. There are just too many such rides given to horses which supposedly "need held up". Dozens such rides result in flying finishes too late when the winner just finds a little more on the run in. Happens particularly (and obviously) when the pace is not strong. Also he gets a 7lb allowance for a reason!
The term held up is a bit misleading. It shouldn't automatically mean anchored in the rear of the field. You can still be positioned in mid division but at the same time be holding your horse up off the pace.
Its all determined by the pace of the leader/s.
