Morning Reg, yes I read the pedigree yesterday and wasn't quite sure how to translate it, I read it the same as you but that would make it one of the dearest horses in history
The horse ran last btw.

E1 is a pace rating that measures how fast the horse ran from the start to the first call of the race. ( 2f Pace in sprints, 4f Pace in routes).

It's absolutely correct.

The reason she cost €1,650,000 is that she is a full-sister to dual Group 1 winner Saffron Beach. Her sire New Bay, by Dubawi, is a decent young stallion with a stud fee of €75,000. Although her dam Falling Petals was a Godolphin cast-off she's proved popular in the sales ring and her three yearlings at auction to date have realised €450,000, €750,000 and the aforementioned €1,650,000.

Although that price tag might look expensive, the buyer is an owner breeder and whatever Goldie Trickett achieves (if anything at all) on the track she'll always have residual value as a broodmare being a sister to a dual Group 1 winner. Plus, Juddmonte has her two-year-old half brother by a better stallion in Lope De Vega running for her.

Sales prices have to be viewed as a moment in time and can look very different as things progress. Saffron Beach was sold twice at Tattersalls: firstly as a 55,000gns foal of 2018 and latterly for 3,600,000gns to Saudi last year as a HIT at the same venue.
