No idea. I envy your confidence though. Already thinking of the bonuses for landing a multi bet!
Report CagliariG April 11, 2025 11:26 AM BST
Forget about bouses imo acey, whatever you would gain with Baldy you would have lost in terms of prices, Gtd price and bog the way to go. Tbh would forget multiples and up your stakes on singles long term.
Report Regbutler April 11, 2025 11:33 AM BST
Cag, I'm a daily ppot punter for over 30 years now
Also a daily multiples backer
If Acey is like me I'm always looking for big odds returns rather than singles... I do back the longer priced ones ew singles though
So, a natural progression from quitting ppots would be to do multiples
Report Regbutler April 11, 2025 11:35 AM BST
To answer his question... Online I use Bet356, BOG all meetings from 8am and plenty of extra place races
Report CagliariG April 11, 2025 11:39 AM BST
I do the odd multiple at big meetings reg and the odd PP, forced to make a choice I would say the PP would be it, still say Baldy falls down re-prices though.
Report barstool April 11, 2025 12:27 PM BST
Baldy will limit you to pennies. Will not lay a decent bet.

Bet365 only firm worth betting with imo. Will lay a bet, although have reduced the maximum payout from 2 to 1 million.
Report CagliariG April 11, 2025 12:37 PM BST
Depends what you call decent barstool, had £700, £300 and £500 in the past month with them, only issue was the £700 which they split £300 @ 5/6 and £400 @sp which was 5/6 anyway. I am well in front with them over the years with a few accounts.

Acey

Bound to get conflicting advice mate as we all have our fav bookmakers and our opinion of which to avoid but there's no exact science to this as some punters are restricted when they shouldn't via various ridiculous trading decisions creating collateral damage or of course human error , also vice versa to the punters that make an effort to stay under the radar best they can.

BOG is obviously the answer if you're fortunate to have earned it whilst needing to be aware of the cap that most apply when BOG is applied , so when you do hit the life changer don't pledge it all away until it's settled , example mate of mine won £38k last November ( or so he thought and actually hedged with that thought in mind ) but only received £22k due to the BOG cap on winnings , he expected sympathy but unfortunately the brutal truth was he should have read the rules before placing the bet or certainly been aware of such a possibility.

If you can't get BOG yourself or haven't the family syndicate to help you out then my suggestion would be to consider SP , we all think we can beat the price and sometimes we do just that but certainly not as frequent as we think we do as most of the time it's pure guesswork without inside help and you'd have to be extraordinary good on beating the price to be ultra confident it's nearly always the best option without BOG.

Before discarding completely consider the possible benefits of the a/c lasting longer by staying under the radar longer and the early price over rounds are ridiculously high even compared the the final SP book value for obvious reasons , there's a case to be made for always taking the price on the final selection but that obviously depends on how huge the odds and stake are to influencing the SP , if you're a same jockey , same trainer or follow a coup kind of punter then probably yes is the answer , Frankie's magnificent 7 the best example yet.

No bookies mentioned really as yet apart from Barstool who's had his own personal experiences but before you decide check all the small print to see what's best for you , example Paddy Power have a cap which may or may not be worth consideration.....

The maximum payment to any one client in respect of our Best Odds Guaranteed concession is £1,000 per day.
For commercial reasons, Paddy Power reserves the right to exclude selected customers from receiving various promotions including Best Odds Guaranteed.

So it's not as easy a decision as it sometimes appears and needs checking out , i expect to be called an idiot for suggesting mainly SP but before making judgement try splitting your bet 50/50 between the bookmaker early price with the other half at SP then see how the returns compare over a few months , if you get BOG consistently then depending on your stakes you may not need to consider any of my post but maybe the cap is off putting , i've no idea as to how you punt so each to their own mate.

Good luck whatever you decide       Happy

Backed the winner of the grand national last week took 22/1 won @ 33/1 then found out they did not do B.O.G on the biggest race of the year because they were paying extra places Cry

Hello Freddie I just put the bet on fully expecting to get b.o.g. As it was the National will not be backing any big races with them again anytime soon
Report freddiewilliams April 11, 2025 1:53 PM BST
They think e way extra places are what the nation wants.....and they dodge bog in the the process

The first question has to be - do you ever intend to make a withdrawal?

If the answer is yes - you are probably better of finding what the Racing Post like to call a "Black Market" operator. You will get paid out without them pretending that they think you are a terrorist!
Report The Management April 11, 2025 1:58 PM BST
If you only ever intend to repeatedly deposit - you'll be alright with most of the one that advertise in the Racing Post.
Report Alicecat April 11, 2025 2:02 PM BST
I agree with most that online 356 are the best.
On the High Street. Jennings offer x3 for 1 winner in a Lucky  15 and BOG.
Although the prices aren't as good.

aceydopey seems to give up every week

ppots are best done with small fields, not big meetings

bog is the greatest concession going. extra places are not worth a nana unless there are 7 or fewer runners. 6 runners 3 places bog is worth doing almost blind, especially if theres a million chance in there

luckies are never worth doing unless you get massive bonuses. yankees almost disappeared but always lucky coupons in shops

Do the arithmetic and you will realise that multiples are a rip-off.
Report comingupthehill April 11, 2025 11:23 PM BST
1.placepots aren’t multiples.
2.thought most bookies stopped bog.
3.fair enough more places ,worse odds.but 12/1 for national winner drifting to 33/1,not great, staff telling customers to take sp,not great.i don’t think that’s their role, heads might roll if sir paddy finds them.
4.peak multiplies was,exchange placed accas.
5.crazy that bookies think, the once a year punters can be fleeced, over rounds, bad prices etc.

Annual bonuses is the cause,no long term ,grow the business logic, just, max the profit now soo hit my targets.
Report second again April 12, 2025 10:34 AM BST
Phil Bull said if you put bad value bets in a multiple you multiplied the bad value, but if you put good value bets in a multiple that multiplies the good value. We should try and not back bad value singles or multiples.
Report Hayden April 12, 2025 12:40 PM BST
He was a wise man second again , that's why i'm always banging on about bad e/way non handicap races as find the right races and you compound an over broke as opposed to an over round in all these impossible handicaps.

Good luck today   Happy

EW LUCKY'S WITH FRED, on bog meetings, with extra places, bonus for all winners and double odds consolation for 1 winner AND no payout limit on bog.

Also ew (ED) doubles/trebles same firm at BOG, extra places, paying both results and no limit on bog return and no ridiculous maximum stake.
