Foinavon's national, that I remember as being in b and w at the time.  This is a pathe newsreel but full of interest and great close up shots.
Apart from that, the 2 standouts for me was the standing start, all in a line and no problem - whatever happened to that?
The other is something that I don't miss today, the sheer brutality of a jockey at the Foinavon fence, one of the last to rejump it, white with black crossbelts, he whips the horse into submission - the poor animal must have wondered what he had on top of him. 

I've not seen this recording before, hope you enjoy it,  if interested in a nostalgic look back.

Thanks Smoky, great watch. Not seen that version before. My dad tipped Foinavon to everyone at his work, but somehow didn't bet it himself!

Just watched the 1951 Grand National on youtube, Pathe News coverage.

What a commentary, 250,000 crowd, absolute carnage in the race and slow motion replays of the falling horses!

Would have to have an X rating now.

Nickel Coin won.  Worth a look.
