OneTen - I backed it. I've followed Henderson's yard closely for 20 years which is why I am justifiably very critical of stone hands Nico.

Newmarket, interesting you say you backed it because if I dislike a jockey to the extent that I believe they are incompetent, as you do with nico, I would never ever back them as I would have no confidence in their ability to get the job done.

Oneten - the price was too good. If Barry Geraghty in his prime was onboard or a top quality modern jockey my stake would be at least 5x what I bet.
Did you watch the 4.40pm.... (I didn't have a bet in this)... Stone Hands Nico sat too close to a murderous pace and faded in the last 300 yards. He makes so many tactical errors sitting on the best horses.

Newmarkets after time record is truly outstanding. However,his analysis is as good as his judgement.

Newmarket, so backing him, even if for a smaller stake , makes no sense if you think he's that bad.

You could tell me a certain jock was on one with two stone in hand and I still wouldn't touch it. If I really don't rate a jock, nothing will make me throw money away... And if I thought they were useless and on a shortie I would lay it rather than back it in the expectation they would mess up - as you say Nico does on every ride.
To my mind he is mostly in the right place at the right time. Even after yesterday's malaise both Ruby and Daryll Jacob both came out and said he was in the best spot throughout the race until getting blocked by the 2 Irish jocks.
Sure , they outsmarted him there , but that's racing, and it happens to the best of them at times.

That is the crux. This should not have happened esp in a Group 1 race. Have a Plan B throughout, and react accordingly, if necessary. In another context nobody has died, and we live to fight another day. And, Constitution Hill too - he's most important.

Best he could hope for was a place,  top 2 were much better.  I was on the mullins yoke unfortunately :(

There are jockeys riding that I would not bet with stolen money  no matter how much I fancied one let alone ante post.
Unfortunately,Newmarket is obsessed with Nico and his ludicrous perception of why he is employed by Hendo.
Nico is certainly no Barry Geraghty and few jockeys are but,I have never flinched from backing a horse he is riding at the big meetings with plenty of success.

Uptheirons, I know, I agree with you 100% about not backing them even with stolen money.. If you don't rate them and they mess up you would kick yourself for being so stupid for backing them.
And we all know Nico isn't Barry G , but he's quiet and slips them into the race with the minimum of fuss.

Impossible - it's racing, so of course it happens to the best of them, in just a split second . They don't come any wilier than a certain K Fallon , wasn't it Bosra Sham in a 4 runner GR 1 at Newmarket where he managed to get boxed in and lost the race as a result ?

Possibly, and I may be wrong , but I understood his (Miles) accounts ended up the wrong way and he was a net loser on his KF lays . Some of the info wasn't as accurate as he might have liked.
He was allegedly fronting for a particularly unpleasant Irish crime gang. Boss's son flew into UK to pay the protagonist a visit but was tailed by undercover cops.

I'm not commenting on this topic any further as I don't remember what was in the public domain and what wasn't.

Bosra Sham was at  Sandown and Rodgers lost money laying Fallon's mounts. Russian Rhythym winning the Lockinge in 2004 cost the Rodger's Betfair Accounts £160,256

Oneten - For myself one of the main factors on deciding if I back a horse is the horse itself. The trainer and jockey are obviously factors as well but you just hope that the jockey doesn't f it up. I will adjust my stakes depending on the jockey. I dont trust Nico so I will lower my stakes compared to if James Bowen is on who is a far better more reliable jockey. TBH I mainly back on the flat. Following Henderson's yard for the past 20 years just keeps me interested in the winter. I can assure you that Nico is by a country mile the worst jockey that has ever ridden for him.

impossible 123.... I've never understood why if someone has a different opinion then you on a horse , trainer , jockey then instead of articulating an alternative argument they personally abuse you. Too many people on here are like this and it just shows the type of character they are. I just block them and ignore.

Interestingly they ignore all the positive things you might say about certain jockeys and just pick up on the negative opinions. For example I've always thought Osin Murphy & Rossa Ryan are the best two flat jockey's riding today. Jack Mitchell, Callum Sheppard, Kerian Shoemark all under-rated and very very good. Just an opinion.

Why? Because Rodgers could do nothing about it.

If you look at transcripts of their conversations - Rodgers was an adrenaline junkie reduced by Fallon to a melting wreck.

One of the reasons Newmarket gets abuse is his total lack of riding knowledge.
Nico has never been the most stylish jockey but to call him "stone hands" is utterly ludicrous and nonsense,
It is 1.01 that he has never ridden a race horse but like many armchair jockeys on here he thinks he knows it all.
