Seems to ride alot from miles off the pace......that said, I do rate him.

He has this habit yes.
Just like Frank, doesn't always hold them up, but a high proportion he just does it out of choice, stuck to the back of a field.
IMO if done just as a habit it is pointless or worse, will reduce chance in races very often. Hold up rides can be a good tactic, but only for specific horses/races where there is a need to do it.

why not when the gravey boat keep telling him he,s the only jock who could win on that etc,and not point out the 20 horses he,s the only jock who could get them beat
I agree great jockey. I think he is up there with Harry Cobden and Sam Twisten-Davies as the best around in UK racing.
