Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin will not run in the Randox Grand National and will be taken out of the race at today's scratching stage, Gavin Cromwell has told the Racing Post.
Sad news that , nothing financial but was hoping it would run. You've maybe only broken even with the lay off Rico but kudos anyway , was a great spot at that price. As it's turned out though the horse is probably better than we all thought so understandable why the aim for greater heights.

The irony is it didnt try in Paddy Power Gold Cup as trying to protect its hcap mark for The National .Clearly ridden with instructions not to reveal too much but ran so well it did, but still got a very favourable mark. I think intentions all along where for national however it may have even surprised connections with that run and once the gold cup field started to break up they could see a place was definetly in the offing with a chance of a win.

I would have thought that it would have run in National since all the changes made to fences and course but I can understand JP's decision given what sadly happened to poor Synchronised.

Athough the fences are easier now at Aintree , its GC run was easily the best it had jumped . I think Cromwell implied that was a result and at the horses level of experience , he could swerve the National . Probably the Gold Cup win emphasised future prospects and affected the decision .

Leopardstown isn't his track and doubt it ever will be. I'd be surprised if he beats Gallopin next Christmas or DRF. But he looks ideally suited to the New Course at Cheltenham.
