To think that 5yos used to get as much as 8lb allowance against older horses in this race! So how good must the favourite be if he wins? He should improve 5lb or more next season.

I backed him last season. Very short today.
Report stewarts rise March 11, 2025 2:09 PM GMT
You have to be able to jump around Cheltenham though.

Plenty of very good rides for Walsh. I wonder how many he will deliver on? Not a very good start.

There goes loads of accas with this one. Too good to be true...

But can't jump round Cheltenham. Gutted as I backed Jango Baie a/p for the 3 miler.

Should had got more experience into him.

It looks as if the horse needs asking at the fences, but that's not Walsh. Unable to get in close and fiddle. Maybe that's just him.

Didn't jump too well around Leopardstown, which was enough for me to swerve it today. 'Jumps too low' I said to a mate last Friday. They've plenty of time to sort that out, but they'll know that it wasn't a great Arkle and JP will never have a better chance of winning it.

Doubt many horses will jump that badly and get to a length of the winner this week.

Wasn't expecting him to jump that poorly. Wonder what his schooling is like at home.
Report Autocue March 11, 2025 2:18 PM GMT
JP might have a think about his jockey going forward.
Report differentdrum March 11, 2025 2:19 PM GMT
Does JP ever sack anyone? Who else could he get?
Report duffy March 11, 2025 2:20 PM GMT
Yes, Walsh looked confused coming to two out, reminded me of Johnson, who quite often never asked a horse up late on too leading to blunders.

He made mistakes lto and 5 year old never won since 2006 so no surprise really and I’m a massive mullings fan but not this one,

Mark Walsh - he will scramble something over this week.
Who wouldn't choose Townend as a straightforward swap for his rides

Willie used to insist on his own jockeys riding every horse, no matter who the owner was and whether they had a retained rider or not. That changed once JP came on board.

Report sageform March 11, 2025 3:54 PM GMT
And then Willie tells Lydia that he never schools over obstacles after a fall. How about after 3 horrible mistakes?
