I thought it would be a idea to start a thread for each race at the Festival. Thoughts and opinions are always welcome.
The favourite Kopek Des Bordes has been well tipped up by the 'experts' but at the prices I'm happy to try and get him beat. The form of his bumper and 2 hurdle races is just OK form but you can certainly pick holes in it. But he's unbeaten and he's trained by Willie Mullins so you know what you're up against trying to take him on. But I read somewhere he can be fractious at the start, first time hood goes on and he's very short in the market.......that's more than enough for me to take him on.
I've already backed one Workahead. I really liked his performance LTO. He jumped and travelled like a nice horse and I get the feeling the Supreme has been the plan since the start of the season. He really built on the promise of his seasonal debut after a lengthy lay off and he was well backed before the off to get the job done. He'll have to improve to beat the favourite but with this being only his third start under rules, I believe there's plenty more to come.
The other one I like at a price comes out of that "Aintree Bumper" Tripoli Flyer is getting better with each race but he'll have to jump much better to get involved here. He's one to look out for later down the line/next season.
..Well, we all know that Kopec is the most likely winner, as the odds suggest.
However, take him out of the race, and in any other year, ..Romeo Coolio...Workahead..William Munny ..would be very worthy runners at this Grade 1 level.
I'm reluctantly just leaving the race alone, although I do love my Willy at Cheltenham !

As you love the chances of Workahead i'd imagine Even money to finish first five would be of interest , sportsbook.
No idea of staking allowances or such like mate though tbh

...Whip.. my usual Cheltenham involves piling in on any Mullins Grade 1 favourite...usually high 4 figure bets.
However, I'm having mega trouble with my blood pressure currently, and I just daren't risk getting involved this year.
I could potter around with small stakes I suppose....but that would be too frustrating if the jollies all piled in .
Hope you have a good week

Very difficult track to win if you're running with the choke out the whole way around which the fav is likely to have do,Workahead beat William Munny 7L LTO yet they are both about the same price here.

As I have said elsewhere I think this is between Workahead and Kopek Des Bordes. On Workahead at a nice price, and he has halved in price over the last few days. I hope Hayden isn't reading this, but my biggest fear is the jock. Hopefully, on looks a very straightforward horse, she just keeps it simple, certainly not held up, and stuck out wide. Ideally she has a two or three length buffer over the last.

the hood will be a pre raceway red one wontit, they've only been around a few seasons so not sure what a horse wore 2 decades ago has to do with the price of fish, apology in advance if I've misread/miss understood

Sorry drum, I didn't see where you posted that. But like you say he's looks a very straightforward horse and I'd like to see him being allowed to bowl along like they did last time out. GL

When you're opposing a short one you've got to look for any chink in the armour you can 1TP. Now it might not be that much of a negative but I certainly don't consider it a positive either. GL

I tried to back Workahead at several different bookies 14/1. None offered more than £10 so I am not on. Bookies are a joke sadly. Think it's a definite player. Half the price now though sadly.

To use the headgear stat, hood you’d need to know how many fav have run in a first time hood, don’t think any, so lots will be thinking it’s a negative when it may not be

Particularly as the jumping was poor enough for the best part. Can only improve with that as well.
