Someone just put £500 in the lay column at 5.0 for the Mares. Trying to lay their bet off at prices under that hoping their £500 isn’t taken?

Elliott has little say where she goes. The markets listen to him as they think he does.
He famously said he and Eddie O’Leary both voted for BDA to go chasing and Michael out voted both of them. Gordon might be trying to influence him but I really think he has no idea where she goes.

Just another day of market manipulation. I laid BDA @ 3.0 and backed her @ 9.0 in yesterdays shenanigans.

FWIW i reckon it will be C.H .Never ever going to get as good a chance with uncertainty if C.Hill can repreduce his best

Over £360 on the bid for the Mares Hurdle, only pittance for Champion Hurdle.

Acey you don’t need to stake your life. Just lay everything in pink on Mares and well believe you Laugh

I’m pretty sure no one has as many bets on her in either race as me. 107 in Mares and 67 in Champion. I’m pretty neutral where she goes as I’ve laid off big chucks already. Champion actually wins slightly more now.
Having King of Kingsfield is a massive advantage as I can’t see who will help her in Mares make the running as I think she is only Elliott horse in race before supplementary ?

If he puts a pace angle into Mares then I’d prefer that race as would my bank manager as she’ll be 4/7.

The Mares there is a £500 stopper on the lay side so someone can lay off their Mares bets at low prices?

Someone wants £550 at 5 on The Exchange. Easy money (for the layer) with inside info. Is it?

You must of laid off Geoff if you have that many bets. Unless you didn’t start till post Nov races when her odds were massively reduced.
Nice to know your a believer Laugh

I’m still thinking it must be Mares. Why not just say Champion if that is where you’re going ? What changes between Jan and Mar apart from opposition dropping out like last season. Still waiting for anyone to give a reason why wait till near dec time ?

Im a layer tho Hibore. On the basis no matter how good she is she can only win 1 of em. and maybe none @ all. The back bets are to reduce the liability. She wins me £8 Champion and £15 mares but plenty of field money to back depending where she goes.

Constitution Hill is the major thorn. Would you not? Lottiemouth is a non-2miler, and State Man's past his best.

Would be a sad state of affairs if Oleary thinks a win in the mares holds more substance than a place in the Champion hurdle with a very realistic chance of winning.

one thing Elliott said was she will go for the race she has the best chance of winning. looks like that might have changed if it’s Champion

Not about substance. The other 3 have won multiple races at Cheltenham and she hasn’t.
If she won last year she would be 100% going CH.

It all comes down to whether he wants to send her off to Chasing career with highly likely win in Mares or 2/1 shot chance against potentially greatest hurdler of all time. It just depends on O’learys gut feeling.

He doesn’t give a sh@t really what we think. Just remember Tiger Roll and Delta Work.

If a win is needed then the race with the best chance is obvious.

Does a multi-millionaire owner care about just getting the easiest win? She’s hardlies going to make a fortune from breeding this is the jumps.

Plenty of the knowledgeable/experienced racing folk will say "never avoid one horse". So BDA should go for the champion. Shes already beaten State Man twice, Lossiemouth will go for the mares so she has only has CH to beat on form. IMHO she wont beat CH but she should at least have a go!

12 days to go and we are still in the dark about so many races, particularly the handicaps.

The festival is all about winners.
What would you rather , 2nd in a champion hurdle or win the mares ?
If I paid the bills I would go for the mares.

It's all about the win.

Cheering the winner and and going up to collect the winners trophy to rapturous applause in front of the crowd is what drives the festival merry go round.
No prizes for coming second..

I can see the argument , O leary will not be a happy bunny to leave the festival without a winner , so unless Gordon can guarantee him one elsewhere he would rather take the open goal than probably finish 2nd.

Any other meeting, the sporting option would be the way to go, but this is not the case at THE festival.

I would rather run 2nd to an all time great in a Champion Hurdle than win a mares. In 10 years time no one will remember who won the mares. Then again my formative years where the legendary battles between Night Nurse/Monksfield & Sea Pigeon

Second in the CH is worth a lot more prize money than winning the mares but I don't expect that would be the main factor for Mr O'Leary.

They can only be waiting for something to happen to Constitution Hill, she couldnt win at the festival last year and the trainer didn't think she was a champion hurdler at start of season as he wanted to go over fences, looks like the plan was mares so would stick to it

The person offering a grand on her at 5.5 in the Mares seems to be extremely confident about her going for the Champion Hurdle.

It beggars belief that they are even considering The Mares Race...I mean how often do you get a chance at Geatness?.....Nobody and i mean nobody bar the Olearys gives a monkeys **** if she canters home in The Mares Race but if she manages to Win The Champion Hurdle.....Now that will live long in the memory.....I rest my case.Cool

I've just been through gigginstowns Cheltenham entries and they only have 3 horses at single figure prices , so make of that what you will.

What do you think O leary will go for ?
A penalty kick in the mares or the likely 2nd place behind constitution Hill ?
I think if he had 2 or 3 favourites then his answer would be different .

prob the mares ,they are just waiting to see what or if anything comes out of the champion ,obviously she has a much better chance in the mares!

think somebody offering agrand at 5.5  for the Mares could know something. if she runs in the Mares she is Evens tops why would anyone offer a grand at 9/2
