Even the Beatles moved on Pandora, you seem stuck in a time warp. Did see a good program a couple of nights ago though, about David Frost who The Beatles seemed to enjoy being interviewed by with a baby faced McCartney and the others doing their first serious interview. Followed later by their last TV appearance singing Hey Jude to just a 200 strong audience who basically invaded the stage. Good viewing after so many years, also interviewed then when they became more hippy after meeting the maharajah and talking about meditation being better than Acid etc. Finally John and Yoko facing a hostile audience in America after singing a song about an American prison riot where a lot of people got injured and killed, John and George died far too young.

Pretty sure that the majority of classic pop music from the 1960's to the 1990's was written by young people - men especially.
A good example is of how most of the Oasis big-hit stuff was written by Noel G when he was 18 to 20.
It seems to me that the ability to write very catchy melodies (as opposed to the lyrics) appears to leave people once they start to age. Don't know why that should be unless it is how the human brain's ability to work in that kind of creative way starts to wane once 30 is turned?

What OP might be getting at is the Beatles packed a lifetime's worth of musical evolution into less than a decade. Evolution and revolution, perhaps. WFM though.

Can you imagine all those girls who loved I Wanna Hold Your Hand, She Loves You and Can't Buy Me Love, a few years later listening to Mean Mr Mustard, Polythene Pam and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window and thinking...

1965 in particular was a great year to be alive...
Arkle, Flyingbolt, Sea Bird - how did that happen?
Then of course besides The Beatles, we had so many young groups like The Hollies, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Elvis still about with Crying in the Chapel, The Stones, Righteous Brothers etc. and so many girl soloists.. Sandie Shaw, Cilla, Dusty..
Most records I bought were produced/ written by.. Spector-Goffin-King Spector-Mann-Weil Holland-Dozier-Holland
besides the usual Jagger/Richard.. Lennon/McCartney's..
All songwriters were in their early 20's at the time.
However, none were better than The Love Affair in '68 with 'Everlasting Love', when a young 17 year old lead singer called Steve Ellis shot to fame. He sounded about 10 years older. He's still going strong today.
