Lovely to have a horse that tries so hard for you too.

I thought the better ride was on the second. Didn't quite have enough in the tank to close the rail off. Had he done so it would have been a different result.

dylan johnstone made 2 basic errors on the runner up. looking behind when should have been head down to the line, and failed to take the rail which would have forced patrick to pull round and have to travel further

I thought he was lucky to get the rail.

Pretty sure he wanted the rail, but didn't have quite enough petrol.

2 lengths clear jumping the last, francome would have won on it

Had another look and unfortunately, there is no rail after the last, and the horse is lugging slightly left. By the time they meet the rail he would have had to chop the winner up to head him off. The only fair chance he had to take the inside run was between the last two, but that's in hindsight, and at that stage the jock was just trying to keep him straight. The winner is always capable of a bungle, but Patrick admitted that was the best he had jumped. Frustrating, as that's twice I have backed Steel Ally when he has been run down late going for a big pot.
