Had another look and unfortunately, there is no rail after the last, and the horse is lugging slightly left. By the time they meet the rail he would have had to chop the winner up to head him off. The only fair chance he had to take the inside run was between the last two, but that's in hindsight, and at that stage the jock was just trying to keep him straight. The winner is always capable of a bungle, but Patrick admitted that was the best he had jumped. Frustrating, as that's twice I have backed Steel Ally when he has been run down late going for a big pot.
