Every red top paper employs a couple of tipsters each day to give a tip in each race. Even the Racing Post does it with Spotlight etc. Over the last couple of days Ive noted 66 tips by them. Only 9 won (13.6%) producing a loss of 32.65 points. Out of 35 tips that were over 4/1, only one won (9/2). Out of 9 tips below 2/1 only 2 won (5/4, 15/8) Why do newspapers give a wage to 2 of them each day, when surely 1 is enough ?
Well, two presumably doubles the paper's chance of a winner and allows sickness and holiday cover, especially if the tipsterers are writing copy anyway.
That pre-supposes that all the tipsterers are flesh and blood rather than 1990s-era AI.

All papers the same, different tea boy picks them every day. If you could guarantee it was the same useless fcuker every day you could lay them and it would be a goldmine.

To me it is obvious why a paper would have a tipster. Racing is all about opinions and finding winners. So if a paper has a racing page, why not have a man/woman giving a view.

the point is brandy, their view is absolutely useless for finding winners , -39 the last 3 days and thats at betfair lay odds, and each paper employs TWO of them to give a tip each race. One tipster should suffice.

£100 on all their naps this season, you would be down £79,975
those are their best bets. you wouldn't want to be having a ton on their worst.

I don’t think many people slavishly follow tipsters, but it would seem strange if the racing guy didn’t offer up a selection,so it’s just part of the info. Hollies today,,on the opening show tipped something at Newcastle, which seems stupid, surely anyone on itv racing offering a selection should pick a horse in a race that’s on their coverage. It might seem clever or well researched, but the program is about the main races that day,so surely their naps, charity bets should be in a race that they are showing. They may aswell tip an Argentinian u 21s football bet,if they’re tipping at the 5th meeting,2 hours after they ve gone off air. You could argue they should select one in the main race of the day,

A few years ago the horse racing tipster from the Yorkshire Post was excellent when giving out selections from 'spittin' Micks yard.
He was related to the family.

Tame, but if someone is going to the races for a day out, knows nothing about racing, getting 3 winners and being 2 points down is great. They ve cheered home a winner, and not blown all their money. This sort of proves why paper tipsters should exsist.
