The way to deal with scandals small or large is a brazen/indignant response, hence the owner having £20 EW and the game being knackered if that's a gamble. Politicians have built entire careers using this tactic.

They look upon the paying customers as fodder,always have since day one,nothing will change tbh….imo…
Fodder ! The gravy train also treat the fodder with contempt,they cringe when the fodder complain about certain rides and betting….they want the new fodder to believe it’s all white and rosy….. |

This has gone on for as long as there has been racing.....Some right moaners on here.....We would have to ban every trainer bar the one's whose patronage means they dont need to gamble to make up for the shocking prize money here.
It wont register with the wider public at large either....Racing as a betting medium is dying not because of this, but because youngsters prefer to bet on fitba.... |

as stated before its the same mentality as those without a pot to pish in defending the rich over tax avoidance.evasion ,because one they think they,ll be the rich tax avoiders,in racing one day they think they,ll be in the no about a 66,s plot horse

I don't think most neutrals avoid betting horses because it is corrupt - most neutrals just see a lot of pretty horses running fast and trying to win, with lovely jockeys trying hard also.
They are the once a year punters on a works do picking 20-1 shots and screaming it home at the races. It's those of us who bet on it regularly that see all the filth and corruption. |

Be interesting to see how Wild Nephin gets on, first race at Chepstow tomorrow. This ran in the same race was second favourite and unfortunately pulled up after 3 hurdles. Twisted shoe, but money has come for it !

don't suppose many were watching ATR at uttox ,but in YIFTERS piece in sportinlife today,he says ANDREW THORNTON interviewed Williams before racing about the gamble and Williams didn't want to talk about it but eventually said he wouldn't trust the eventual winner and fancied his other runner in the race, AND REMEMBER IN FUTURE SAVILLE THINKS WILLIAMS SHOULD GET PAID FOR THAT LITTLE NUGGET

You call it moaning and perhaps some of the moaners simply want to see Racing survive whereas others completely ignore the fact that the younger generations want nothing to do with it because of what is going on. |

Racing has survived plenty of orchestrated coups Sparrow, this was hardly a Curleyesque type plot, more a large handful of owners, friends and associates having a punt at big prices then Joe punter joining in. Doesn't take a fortune for liabilities to mount before the books react and more lose than win but of course nobody ever cares about that, do they?
You seem to be suggesting the game is not as straight as in your time, before patrol cameras and live TV pictures, delusion imvho. |

I am not suggesting that at all but we live in different times now whereby we have far greater access to tv pictures etc. and what was tolerable at one time is no longer. The game in my early days was riddled with doping and to compare with that is of course ridiculous. Deal with the present is what is required and forget about the so called wonderful past which I would never want to return to.

why would the owners back a horse when the trainer is on live tv telling the world he wouldn't trust it/back it and fancied his other horse in the race ?
if the owners always back it why hasn't it plunged from 66,S to single digits before or at least showed signs of been well punted,if it only takes a few bets ? |

So he fancied a 50/1 shot you say 1st TP, with only one owner btw. Are you suggesting syndicate owned horses only get punted if the trainer gives the nod? The horse I explained about yesterday would be a typical example, the trainer did not fancy him, nobody knew if he could handle heavy and was against 18 other runners with form in the book, I even had to borrow a bigger girth strap as the trainer had not even checked the tack.
Have you seen a single bookmaker complaining? Probably because they know it was no plot and the vast majority of the time such punts end up in their satchels!! |

no but if every horse that had 20 ew punted on it by the conections went to single digits there be a dozen everyday,there isn't .as pointed out your lucky if there's 2 or 3 a season,which means it was far more than a few 20 ew bets

so the potter horse well backed on Saturday before apparently pulling up injured early on,now fit 3 days later and fav for the 1st at chepstow
