The reality is that he is gone, no ******* chance of winning another Champion Hurdle. I have to admit I thought before his return...as I never expected him to return. Fair play to all the connections, he beat nothing, however it was to see would he back up his return run. GL to the horse and all the connections.

on any other day that was a fall at the last, that's what happens when jocks fook about, doing what saving a horse a furlong,s energy 6 weeks before its next race

impossible123 25 Jan 25 15:20 Officially it was 3l. The bookies win again. I think it could have been at least 6l if Nico only had allowed him to stride on.
easily been 20 if wanted.

annoying if you backed overs(of any distance) that the jockey comes in and says it was so easy we'll need to do some harder work with him before Cheltenham.

if he'd allowed it to stride on he'd have been finishing when the rest were clearing the final hurdle ....

Note to oneself. Never bet winning distance when Nico is onboard unless it's the main event. I think the BHA ought to have instigated an enquiry on the winning ride eg indecisive at the last and not letting the horse stride on.

The horse injected a bit of pace coming to the 2nd last hurdle and opened up a 10l gap. Then Nico looked round at least twice, and eased off coming to the last. This unprofessional behaviour caused confusion for the horse. The owner was lucky his horse did not come to any untoward outcome post the blunder.
I believe Buveur D'Air did something similar and has a splint between his hoof and toe nail.

Everyone knows it will be given a considerate ride in festival prep, that's why the distance prices were juicier than his dominance suggested that they should have been.
It's not a bet on the horses ability but on how the jockey is likely to play it.
Sometimes the jockey will play it safe like he did today, and they still win by many lengths as the oppo falls apart. May as well bet on a coin toss.

yeah so in this instance, long odds on he wouldn't be pushing out up the hill if winning easily. so those on overs are betting on him not pushing out when winning easily, and still piling on the distance. ie, a guess. educated perhaps, but still a guess

personally I don't see NSB doing what he did in the supreme again, even in the CH. horse is obviously quite fragile and they will want to prolong his time at the top. outside chance I suppose if Elliot takes him on with team tactics, and the CH is blown apart

Cotton Wool ride. Nico stopped him winning by at least 10 lengths. I thought they would have given him some sort of a race even to quicken up running between the last 2 hurdles! Oh well at least he did not fall we probably would never have seen him again!

Lossiemouth and State Man are poor protagonists; the latter was no match previously; the former is no 2-miler, and hyped. I think Elliot's mare could give Constitution Hill a tow for a long while...

well I was there yesterday on rails and thought I saw blood on his hind leg when it cantered back in from its effective overeach. I thought CH was stuffy yesterday and they were right to give it another prep race. I hope mistake at last hasn`t effected it too much but screwjumps like that usually have a price to pay

All good according to Hendo. I'd wait and see. The next few days and weeks will be key to his well-being post yesterday's mis-communication between pilot and horse. I think if all is good a racecourse gallop will do him just fine prior to March event.
And, Lossiemouth and State Nan will be no contest.

Don't even know what positivity could be gotten from yesterday, if he was stuffy before he'd be stuffy after, another race run at an absolute crawl through-out, even when CH took it up, the Triumph trial was miles ahead the whole way.
A piece of work that he'd do at home, minus the last flight fcuk up.

The Forum always knows better than connections so NDB saying he was too fresh and no evidence of an overreach obviously an attempted cover up?
Btw every trainer would love to get £70 K for a workout imo!!

Does that have any relevance to the horse looking stuffy and an overreach GC, whatever " Looked stuffy" is supposed to mean about a horse hardly breathing hard enough to blow out a candle or a non existent injury?

One mistake due to lack of concentration from 10 rides on the horse Quixall? Didn't look too cumbersome on several that needed strong riding e.g the Bradstock beast the other week, maybe you know better than the trainers who employ these guys you slate constantly, if so get a job as an advisor or coach?
Did you ride many horses growing up on the council estate?

Don't think it was anything to do with lack of communication, the jockey saw a stride asked the horse up, the horse briefly considered the request before saying no thanks

Unless I misheard Mccoy and Walsh on ITV both seemed to think it was jockey error, as was later seen when NDB was banging his head and apologising to all and sundry. Far too casual and instead of making the horses mind up for him nearly decked him.

The pained glance across to an ITV podium full of riding legends said every bit as much as the apologies uttered to owner Michael Buckley, as Nico de Boinville took instant blame for the misunderstanding with Constitution Hill at the final flight of the Unibet Hurdle that could so easily have undone his hitherto perfect Champion Hurdle prep.
And while many of the 20,000-plus crowd had taken every conceivable vantage point to applaud their returning hero, De Boinville's vague hat tip belied the impression that he thought he had almost made a mess of what should have been a straightforward assignment on the 1-12 shot.
By the time he had weighed in De Boinville had managed to relativise the momentary blip of Constitution Hill paddling through the last with the serene progress that had preceded it, much of which was marked by slick and, on occasions, spectacular jumping.

Nothing against the Jockey, I backed him Saturday and have also backed him for the Champion Hurdle.
Just cant understand folk saying it was the Horses fault.

At least what had happened to Ruby Walsh fairly regularly coming to the last hurdle or fence eg Annie Power and Valseur Lido respectively Constitution Hill escaped relatively unscath.

Constitution hill got away with jumping the shadow in his CH Annie power didn't as for valseur and others isn't it great to be in a position to compete in these races ( die dog or **** the licence) rather than be an also ran like most of your choices

It may look decent on numbers 1sttp but in real terms measured against an exchange the 5.00 is only marginally better than the mythical 4.86 that produces , the 2/1 as always is a total red herring created by vast over rounds making the offer differential look spectacular.

its stride pattern wasnt right and horse was unsure whether to go for a biggun or not..it chose the latter..no one to blame wotsoever. People as per woffling utter ****.

Annie Power came up out of Walsh's hands, he didn't ask the horse, the horse came up a stride early catching Walsh out.
Benie Des Dieux was different again, it was a straight forward fall, Walsh asked the horse up, the horse jumped as requested and knuckled on landing.
CH was asked by Nico and refused and put in an extra stride.
Three different examples of falls IMO.

I do think he is apologizing for something that is not his fault he's probably asked the horse to see a stride and jump lots of time before and the horse has always responded, all Nico would have been doing is doing the same thing again, this time the hore said no, how could he be blamed for thinking that the horse would not do what he's done previously.
If CH was a horse that always got in close and fiddled most of his hurdles you could point the finger and say why did you ask him up when he doesn't do that, but that isn't the case here. IMO.
