was looking at those vintage photo vids on YouTube and in the states in the 1940-50s they had baby racing 
,tots with names on their backs ,fast Eddy speedy sam etc at crawling age and they would be in lanes on a wooden track with the mums at the start and toys ie teddy bears etc at the winning line could be 20 odd tots in a race winner was first to get his toy.

the diaper derby was the blue ribbon event by all accounts ^^
some wouldn't take part and threw their toys out the pram
