Ballyburn is entered on the 28th at Limerick are you sure he is taking Sir Gino on?

You are not wrong, one's a two-miler, and the other is a three-miler.
Given that the market is all over the three-miler you should be asking if Sir Gino is going to turn up. Add in the juvenile form has received one boost after another, but the novice hurdle form looks increasingly poor. Seems very strange. If Sir Gino is as good as the hype, then he should dot up. |

I can see the ground ruling him out; coupled with it being a speed track and against a speedy horse (admittedly a debutante), i don't think Willie will risk him. Hope i'm wrong.

Mr Mullins is playing "who blinks 1st". Ballyburn does not need to run as much as Sir Gino unless Constitution Hill has a stone bruise; Ballyburn could run in one of the races in the DRF.

Obviously you are taking the jumping of SIR GINO on trust, if he takes to it then over 2 miles he’d be the one for me

I tohught Mullins had nominated the Faugheen Novices Chase at Limerick for Ballyburn a while ago

He said more recently that kempton was the intended target, wouldn't be at all surprised to him switch to Limerick though.

think with holyhead closed, they are very limted by ferries. think theres no one after today*MON for bloodstock so willlie knows hes either on the boat or he isnt.

It is a novice chase so they all have a chance. Ballyburn and Kalif de Berlais have chase experience so will be very hard to beat but Rubaud will love the ground and is only about 5lb wrong on RPR.

Which of the two main protagonists is rated higher? Hendo has had some juvenile star performers lately.

Rated higher over hurdles or taking the latest chase rating? Ballyburn has by far the best chase rating although even that is 10lb below his hurdle rating. Sir Gino is the next highest hurdler followed by Rubaud but neither has a chase rating. The gap between Ballyburn and Sir Gino's hurdle rating with the extra 6lb age allowance over fences included is 4lb. Both have room for improvement. Rubaud is 10lb inferior and has no age allowance but he is a good ground horse who has won 4 times at Kempton and has had chasing planned since the start of the season. Sir Gino won at Newcastle on good so seems to go on anything. Ballyburn has never run on good going and his clear best was achieved over 2.5 miles. Kalif du Berlais and Home Free have chase experience but are 10lb or more inferior the main three. Will Nicholls run both of his? Hope this helps to muddy the water further!

Surprised the trainer has chosen to run Ballyburn over a sharpish track like Kempton against class opposition at this stage. The markets have been saying he may not be going to Cheltenham he has been weak for either race.

Henderson has tried to support Kempton ever since there were suggestions that the jump track would close. A well backed trebl yesterday showed real intent so I agree that Sir Gino should be fav. I am still backing Rubaud at the price he is. Stable form is the negative but no way is he a rank outsider.

The two biggest races in the X'mas calendar eg KG and Kauto Chase Mr Mullins chose to be absent, why? The owners were here eg JP, etc.

I assume you mean Nicholls and I agree that there is an issue. It has been happening for too long to be just flu jabs which are often the reason for a dip in form but that is usually when Paul goes to the Caribbean in January. I think one of the problems is that none of his older horses are good enough to win Grade 1 races and although he has a lot of very promising novices, they are mostly embryo chasers. It is worrying that they seem to be stopping so quickly. I really thought that Bravemansgame would be in the mix for a place 2 oiut but finished nearly last. 2 others dropped from first or second to fourth in 10 strides. 4 were pulled up.

NH seems enamoured with his jumping, never heard him so enthusiastic about any other tbh, but the crunch is doing the same in public first time.
You would imagine that Bally will press on and try and put him under pressure over this trip and it might take only one mistake by either to decide the outcome, all being well we should collect though. ( famous last words? ) |

Only 2 X £22 doubles Quixall because SG was subject to ante post rules and at 5/4 not much of an upside for more, 13/10 for CH makes it not so bad, cheer btw.

bravemans game jumped 20 of the fences as though he,d never seen a fence in his life,said after Betfair but the horse has completely gone at the game should be retired IMO,
read earlier in the week about cobbden wanting to lead and posted nah chance of that,he,d need rousting,ears boxed off it just to lead selling platers from the post these days |

Mullins is more interested in Cheltenham in March than Kempton in December. This is a learning exercise for him and I doubt he will mind much if Ballyburn is beaten as he will learn from it. Henderson is the best trainer of a two mile chaser I have seen and is generally conservative in his approach. The fact he is putting a four-year-old over fences on debut in a grade 2 speaks volumes. I don’t buy into Ballyburn being the better hurdler of the two either as Sir Gino won a grade 1 in open company.

The lack of pace shown by Lossiemouth has been used as an excuse for her supposedly/perceived lacklustre performance yesterday. On the other hand Lossiemouth had never gone the quick pace as yesterday in a Gp 1 either eg Zarak The Brave and Gala Marceau; her last race was against a stayer where she just lobbed along at the rear.
