Can’t really drink in the house will have the odd one before going out on a weekend, you may not get the same buzz having a drink as most lagers have dropped alcohol content, madri is 4.8 without looking it up it’s never seen Italy or Spain a pure made up in the uk drink and heritage but it’s the old carling that’s just been swapped and that’s dropped to 3.8 carling now,

The newish ipa lager like beavertown neck oil is nectar it’s the best I’ve ever tasted but you can pay £5 - £7 but plenty of the craftish beers are good, salt brewery’s jute is nectar as well and same ish price, some great beers around and once you stop going out your lifes over imo, while you can do it you need to because there will be a time in the future where you can’t go out

Weekend I still live for only bars with music and a older crowd and it lifts you I don’t bother with the ladies as I’ve got a good un still wears short skirts as she has the legs, costs a fk fortune but we have a choice and we make the effort to go out but it’s limited so as I said make the most of it, the games changed as well for the older ones starts about 3 on a Saturday and can be home by 10 ish it’s happening all over now

Each to their own.

But as you get older, life becomes more repetitive,so people reach for the drink as the day evolves.

Any medical reasons helps with stopping.

To be tea total in later years for quality of life over medical reasons seems strange.

Why,once on the road to decline, would you want to try and fight nature against enjoying your future.

Life’s experiences are far better sober has you soak them up clear headed, but it’s just a bit boring.

This country is fuelled by acholol,if your sad drink,if your happy drink, etc etc.

Every event, publicity and privately tends to involve acholol.

So how do you manage that delimena.

I have found that as i get older my tolerance has increased, which is bad news. Had two pints today over lunch at the pub. Also got a lovely delivery from rebellion brewery in marlow.

Sadly it affeCts my form study as i get out of bed at ten am not 7 am and with a fuzzy brain. Raceform interactive is a  blur most mornings. LOL

I can honestly say that alcohol has had a significant negative effect on my life. I got the best a levels in the whole of my school 3 As in maths physics and chemistry and that was 1984 when exams were tough and meant something, but went onto a modest rather than stellar finance career.

i wasnt going to as i suspected how it would be and it duly was, i.e. cans of (crap) beer and vodka but now youve enticed me

theres an ocean of good beer around nowadays with the rebirth of british brewing and no excuse for drinking cooking lager that the big brewers got away with for decades

and wine has gone bananas with choice despite the spiteful tax on it. again, no excuse for drinking rubbish. never buy a bottle under 8 quid and never buy french and you will probably be ok

i have 3 bottles a day and was fine on it until i fell off me bike last year and can no longer play sport, and thats been a big problem and is degrading me elf so i might have to slow down a bit

i went to the quack for a check-up post-crash and she asked how many units i consume. couldnt own up so i told her 50% of the reality

The problem is the question of 'how much' is wrong also.

As others have said some drink lot of alcohol and do so into elderly ages no both. Some say any alcohol is bad for you and leads to serious problems with health.

But, there's surely a reality somewhere in between. Problem is also we don't know whether it is too much for us personally e.g. being disposed to having alcohol cause a problem, or not.

Then there's the whole 'pleasure' question - if you get pleasure from it, stopping will reduce your life, not in length but in quality perhaps.

As George Orwell said, acholol, football and gambling is the best way to control the people.

If we were all vegan, marathon running healthy citizens,we d then demand better of our politicians and business's.these distractions keep you from wanting more from life, because even though they are their to tempt you to hinder your progress in life, you also accept it’s your own fault for caving into these temptations.

Everyone can’t be rich,everyone can’t be the boss,everyone can’t succeed,
Drowning the nation in acholol is the best solution to controlling this.

Ironic this thread is on here, horse racing.acholol plays a massive role in racings survival, success, future.has the product itself dosent appeal to enough people.so linking it to acholol themed events is racings biggest sales pitch.

Should probably add alcohol and gambling in general have always had a fairly close connection.

Watch any poker coverage or casino footage and you see alcohol getting swigged very often. Then there is sports betting and booze of course, hand in hand.

In olden times they might even both have been called the 'vices' - somewhat grouped together in that respect.

Though maybe those kind of views are making a comeback too Plain

But no government wants 20 million, focused, healthy, pumped up,clean living population.has they couldn’t manage their desires.

Plus big business can’t fleece them and profit of their weakness.

If everyone did everything perfectly, every minute of every day.after a few years they’d start demanding more and more.and when those demands weren’t met, you’ve got a problem.

Let them eat cake, let them drink gin.or dark fruit cider in this day and age.
