Grey Dawning is a very likable horse and is suited by Haydock. Royale Pagaille 4.7 atm would be a danger especially if the ground is attritional.

Nice horse acey but so far normally comes on for his seasonal run and this is his first venture out of Novices company which is always a bit test, Venetia's horse for me win and place, loves the place, 4 wins from 5 here and a second the A Plus Tard, goes on soft and heavy (like Grey Dawning) thought he would have sgortened up more than he has done though, 5.3 to 4.6, win and place for moi. Good luck folks.

Short of fitness is possible as he usually comes on for his first run, but Venetias horse was surely always the way to go on this going and on this course.

The issue with iroko and grey dawning is its a hige slog today and they are bridle horses and bridle jockeys.

Skelton said the other day that stepping into grade 1 company he would be plenty fit enough first time out.......remains to be seen if he's left his season behind after that gruelling effort.

Harry was pumping away before the last and met it all wrong and the horse had to put in a short stride which killed his momentum! Had harry waited and sat still I'm sure he would of jumped the last like a stag and maintained that 2 length advantage he held . Definitely an unlucky loser

Not for the first time Harry lost his nerve and lost the race at the last

By lost his nerve I mean went too early. And the last obstacle jump to losecthe race seems to happen him too often for an experienced jockey.

Ruby Walsh greatest jump jockey of all time used to get alot of last fence/hurdle fallers so it's a case of miscommunication with the horse as a jockey may see a long one but the horse is tired and says I'm not gonna make it and puts in an extra short one .
It's just annoying as grey dawning is definitely the BEST horse in the race and harry misjudged and went for it just too soon

To be honest, I didn't especially fancy the horse in today's race, on that type of ground

Not sure there's anything in his form to scream 'Gold Cup', or even that he's that special, while undoubtedly a highly likeable individual

Certainly couldn't see him troubling the Irish contingent in a GC. The Ryanair would be a totally different matter, however

No shame in defeat for Grey Dawning today, only just beaten by a course specialist that had also finished 5th and 6th in the Gold Cup. Still an up and coming type with more to come.

Dosent look like it’s the great grey hope,royal pag isn’t the best ,won a poor 4 horse race last year.
