A report by Transparency International UK into Covid-19 public procurement, published this week, found 135 contracts worth £15.3bn of public funds – nearly a third of all pandemic procurement by value – carry a high risk of corruption, almost as much as the entire annual Home Office budget. It also found that government departments awarded almost £4.1bn in public funds to suppliers with political connections to the party of government at the time during the pandemic, including through the infamous "VIP" lanes.

But as they were all 'safe and effective' particularly those AZ ones, there was nowt to worry about, eh?

I worked in senior healthcare procurement positions most of my career. It really makes my blood boil when they call 'special measures' and don't follow a competitive tender process. It's perfectly possible to carry out a short notice competition where the qualitative and commercial aspects of the suppliers/products/services are assessed robustly, if there is a will to do so of course...

I doubt they will be getting all of the eu nationals that took the £50K bounce back loans, never to be seen again.
