Sad  to say the bookies  at the riverside stadium have gone kaput.
A very hard game at the moment.
Ronnie.

Ronnie, a friend of mine who ran a string of independent shops in Bristol, had the outlet at Ashton Gate about 15 years ago
I went as a guest a few times
In the concourse under the stand before the game it was manic with people who'd had a drink wanting to bet on the game
He offered "specials" on the game, like 20/1 for player X to score a hat trick when they had scored 2 in 100 games, etc
The correct scores overround were horrendous
Good times while it lasted for him, but then online took most of the punters away

Occasionally these mug fans' bets come in, like for all the Leicester fans who had thought they were only buying some wallpaper with 1000/1 on it.

Ramruna, I think that was 5,000/1
But, easy enough for the bookies to lay off for a nice trade if they're offering way under

many moons ago a mate tried to tell me what a good bet the team losing at halftime and winning at full-time was at around 35,33,s at the time, at the time I,d recently read in THE POST that some ridiculous stat like in 1st 10 yrs of EPL it had happened 23 times, about twice a season, anyway he,d got lucky with one and wouldn't have it was rubbish value, then about 5 yrs later told me you were right about that bet I,ve never had one since despite doing a few every week, LaughLaugh

a bloke who was an old time face in bookies and a gaffer where I worked once died recently and I recalled this story on the posts everyone was putting up, we were talking in bookies about 35/40 yrs ago doing our 1 and 6 reversed in the 11 0 clock at hackney on a sat morning which he,d put me on to the previous yr as a regular occurrence, turns out it was very irregular Laugh, and it was days of 5 nations rugby when they were 2 games every sat and a draw was around 16,s in both games ,he told me to do the draw in both games and the double, you get at least one draw a tourney and you might hit the jackpot 2 in a day, talking to him about 5 yrs later at work in front of lads saying I,m still waiting for a draw let alone the double,he said I no its rubbish isn't it ,I think changing the scoring from 5 to 6 for a concerted try has messed all the mathematics up LaughLaughLaugh and didn't collect much on the 1/6 reversed at hackney either glad it shut Laugh, Terry doing his greyhounds bet in MINDER always reminds me of this Laugh,I never paid the tax either Laugh

Problem is that football fans are not dispassionate observers of the beautiful game, so stadium layers are likely to have a lopsided book every game. Even if they price the home team well under the odds, they still risk being wiped out if a hundred punters have backed a 4-1 scoreline and only two brave souls backed the opposition.

Used to get Ladbroke at the cricket (Durham)

Guy priced up the Durham cricket markets at about 200%.

It's been bookie free zone for years now.

Newcastle always had a concession in ground offering poor odds.

Surely boro will have no difficulty filling the vacancy
