I wondered about that leif, and while he can clearly go well fresh, he'd had 2 prep runs prior to winning last year, so is the break by design or has there been an issue?
I think he's a different horse from last season. This season post injury his work has been consistent and uninterrupted unlike last season. As such, I think he'll avenge his defeat here last season.
i have to say trawlerman 1st 4 1/2 looks very fair..
ground has to be a caveat for trawlerman though..
won 14 out of 18 including coming off his death bed, 6 out of 6 this year and NO BET MELISH doesn't think he,s mile ahead of his rivals, you,d have gone skint along time ago if you were betting against him
I think Kyprios is at his best on good ground or quicker although like many such horses he does handle sloppy soft. Wouldn't take short price about him win or place.
If ever you wanted to know ratings measure performances rather than ability Kyprios only 2lb above Trawlerman.
1st time poster, the official handicapper agrees with Mellish, Trawlerman is only rated 2lb lower, Sweet William 5lb, Al Nayyir and The Eurphrates both 6lb.

George, Mellish didn't say he thought Kyprios was a 2lb better horse did he ? Yes he did agree with the ratings. Two different things.

he said he doesn't believe he,s got/ever had much in hand of his rivals and the ratings agree with/show that
problem with that is if he,s in 3rd /4th he hasn't run his race so knowing Ryan and connections he wont be trying to hard to finish 3,4,5th,6th

He has most stamina yet can travel as well as any of the others so its hard to see how to beat him. Probably need a slow pace or maybe a crazy fast and hope he goes with it. Anyway hes a star!
