I'm still waiting for my winnings to be paid back into my bank account what I've used on betfair for over a decade, apparently they can stop it on a review and if you don't send in the docs they can hold it for 8 weeks! GC approved Angry

Our rules say that a gambling business can't ask you to prove your age and identity as a condition of withdrawing your money if they could have asked you at an earlier point. However, there may be occasions where a gambling business can only ask you for information at that time in order to fulfil legal obligations.

If a gambling business needs more information before you can withdraw your funds, for example, for anti-money laundering checks, then they should ask promptly and not only when you want to withdraw your funds.

Where a gambling business delays a request to withdraw funds due to insufficient ID, they may be in breach of Licence Condition 17 – Customer identity verification and may be subject to regulatory action.

Account suspended till I send in yearly docs as self employed which I've refused to do and just want to withdraw my balance which they aren't allowing me to do. According to GC rules they have 8 weeks to solve it so they can keep my money for 8 weeks Angry

Another site are even worse, they want you to fill in an SOW(Source of wealth) information form Angry This includes:

Employment details
Any sale of business
Any investments you have
Any sales of property
Any Inheritance
Any gambling winnings(name operator)
Any funds you receive from 3rd parties

Then you have to sign and date it, fail to do that and your account stays suspended, mine still suspended from May!!!

Only £26 in that account so not bothered about the money but not really the point, becoming more like China everyday.

Where are these rules? You should start copying in info@gamblingcommission.gov.uk in your emails. btw if the deposits aren't substantial and you haven't been exhibiting suspicious behaviour, there shouldn't be "source of funds" enquiries.

You would know all about idiotic statements, pandora. Probably an authority on such matters.

When one opens an account with any online bookmaker or BF you have to agree to their terms and conditions to do so.

If you don`t, you don`t get an account, simple.

When you do, they can do anything they like which is listed in the said terms and conditions, including proof of income and proof of identity and you don`t have a leg to stand on.

... doesn`t make it right though.
Report ladycarla October 10, 2024 12:22 PM BST
Rico missing the point as per usual. I will put it in simpler terms:

If I start with 5 million and lose 1 million, should I have to send in docs/life story to bet my other 4 million??

Was only warning folk on here but hey ho, I know what triggers it but find out for yourselves.

Thanks Dave, sent that, no reply yet!

Die- knows the score.

Good luck to the good guys, why do I bother Laugh

When one opens a new account with ANY online bookmaker, one can deposit and lose as much as you like without verification of one`s identity, but as soon as one tries to make a withdrawal - PLEASE VERIFY ACCOUNT BY PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS. Absolutely disgraceful but that`s a FACT.

that's not true - they can't hold on to funds unless they have reason to believe they are the proceeds of crime. They can close your account, obviously, for other reasons, but have to return your money
