In the good old days of betting shop, decent number of customers with plenty of banter, there was a nice guy called Stan who definitely had a gambling problem and was a useless punter. If he announced what he had backed , there was a cry from one or two others in shop who screwed up their betting slip and threw it on the floor. They had obviously backed Stan's choice and knew they were on a loser . Pandora reminds me of Stan.
