Dinosaurs like me, tipping horses over longer trips because they been running on at the end of their races over shorter distances.

Well, today Hugh has tipped a horse over a longer trip partly on the basis of its stride length.

(1sttimeposter just choked on his corn flakes)

Zipster, 6.00 Wolverhampton

"This extended 1m trip is the longest he’s tackled to date but his stride data has consistently suggested he might be suited by 1m and beyond as long as he settles; it’s interesting to compare that stride frequency, which has consistently been in the ballpark of 2.25 strides per second, with that of his half brother Wreck It Ryley, who seems best at around 6f and tends to have a stride frequency of around 2.45 strides per second."

Billy Hill's trader's stride frequency to get to their computers - 3.25 strides per second.

An intriguing theory but has Hugh considered the possibility that the horse is just slower than his half-brother, without necessarily possessing more stamina?

Telling Sir Hugh how to pick horses? Aye very good.

Stride pattern tip - back the horse with the longest stride pattern and the greatest stride frequency.

Backed late, finished second. Is that a moral victory for Hugh's stride patterns?

4 losing months in a row, even at fantasy island prices too. How's that working out for you and the fellow sheep, Sam? lol Has that winner in the 7.30 added to September profits or made a dent in the losses?

Hugh Taylor should be doing much better on the tipping front, considering he is been paid to tip horses and he has available to him a massive amount of data and contacts over a considerable period.
Report leif September 30, 2024 8:20 PM BST
He's had a decent September TBF.
Needed one following a barren summer.
all inflated by fantasy island prices as you say.
Report tanglefoot September 30, 2024 8:25 PM BST
Have noticed that he is worth taking note of if he tips a horse that likes the heavy going, obviously keeps data of these horses that can go off at longer prices
Report Whippin Piccadilly September 30, 2024 9:13 PM BST
Maybe some of the angles or edges he had aren't proving as profitable as they once were? We all have to adapt and look for new edges once they stop becoming profitable. Nothing wrong with Ram questioning this angle into a race. IMO.

CryCrySadSad,
I,m only hearing the stride length garbage on itv.racing UK etc not read the details about it
but surely the ? is when.how do they measure a horses stride length and in a race how many times.do they get the their optimum opp to use it, a horse on the snaff ridden in behind to lead last 100 yds isn't going to use his full stride as much as a galloping kead all the way quicken type of horse,
or am I missing something and is a horses stride length the same no matter how quick it goes, what leg its on ,uphill/downhill,going to post etc etc
surely a horses stride length isn't the same going around Chester as it racing up the straight at newbury or York for example

It’s poppycock unless he has just found the golden egg, 4 losing months that’s normal at times just imagine if it was a paid service it would not matter he has had years of profit and someone joining him at the start of that 4 months would need to be on suiside watch, just shows your only as good as your last winner, he is class so will turn it around

37 points up for September but, but,
for most that would be cut to shreds with the books hammering the prices before they can strike a blow.
Report steerforth October 1, 2024 10:14 PM BST
Keep hearing how the books cut the prices before anyone can get on. What I don't understand is who has the option to even try. I genuinely don't get it when RTV, Sky, HT Timeform Jury, etc all make claims about bookies prices when I'm sat here with no options. There's nothing special about me - so who on earth still has these accounts???
Report bigbillbovington October 2, 2024 1:26 PM BST
Would be much better and factual if they calculated profit at Betfair sp
People couldn't complain about fantasy prices.
Report Ramruma October 2, 2024 1:31 PM BST
bigbillbovington -- it depends what you are trying to judge.

As a measure of Hugh's skill, price at the time of publication (or "fantasy price") is the right measure.

As a measure of Hugh's usefulness to the SP punter, returns at SP are best.

As a measure of Hugh's likely Betfair prowess, BSP.

And so on.

It must be a strange life for these homophobic, racist, male, OAP, Daily Mail readers. They choose to spend their last few years tragically typing on a betting forum and are happy openly to admit that they are so useless as punters that they cannot find a way to secure ways of beating the bookies when they cut prices quickly. Every single person on this thread admits what a failure they are and just accepts it. So sad for them.

The minute i saw your name

Hey you,  you listen to me,
I got a lot of truth i want to tell you,
You can't get a bet on
At Hughies prices,
Because you get turned down.

Says Fraudy, who on Sir Hugh's tw4tter fred advises fellow fandom that accounts will be wiped out following a winner or two but he is elevated beyond mere mortal status and is able to get on at the advertised prices. No doubt helped by his christian faith and new born socialist conversionCrazy
