Draw unknown, by Sea The Stars and no form on anything other than good to firm, and disappointing favourite last time not really seeing the trip out that well.
Personally, I wouldn't be rushing to take twice the current price. It's the sort of horse that bookmakers love to chalk up as favourite.
Cambridgeshire Deffo not my specialist subject. Not sure about the jolly DD but if Bopedro runs and drifts out a chunk I might be interested in a place bet at least. Could be pushing it for an 8yo to win it.

Likely going, good to soft or soft Weather in Newmarket, heavy rain today, showers tomorrow, Friday light showers and then dry Saturday but not getting very warm,

You can see why Roi de France is favourite. Probably half a stone in hand, top speed figure, lightly-raced so room for improvement, top trainer.
But after today's non-runner bonanza, I'll leave it till tomorrow.

Tom Segal makes a valid point in todays RP regarding the ground at Newmarket. He notes that the going yesterday was moved back to soft after the first race and with no further rain imminent and windy conditions it is not impossible that 'good' might form some part of the going description come Cambridgeshire off time. His point being that although the ground will certainly be tacky it might not be necessary to jump on mudlarks at the expense of animals with the best form chances. It looks a typically impossible conundrum particularly as the favourable draw side is up for debate.I'm taking one from each side, James Mchenry ,drawn in 2, a likely improver for the extra furlong and Poniros, drawn in 37, a guaranteed stayer down in trip

Bopedro looks to be coming back to form, won't mind whatever the ground is, 9lb less than last years 3rd, appears to have a decent draw, and that's where my EW bet will be 1st 6 at 14/1 and win bet at 18/1 here.

if the ground has some good in it or segal doesn't think it will be that bad every stat out here says you need a horse drawn with a 2 or a 3 in front of it Segal's put one up with a 0ne in front of it,

Still favourite despite being close to not even running.
I hope Segal is right, but not with his selection.
Yesterday it looked as if was difficult to pick up from off the pace. The way racing appears to work it will be completely different today.

I doubt many got put away by the misdirection from Thady last night; the Gosden's have form...
Race is a bit of a lottery, however 15/2 + 25% bonus on Bet365 seems worth a shout.

Got to have a bit on thissongisforyou at 16.5, and in the place markets Trip looks ideal, middle draw so can go either way, ground shouldn't be a problem Stable like to plot one up, good jockey on board Was backed earlier in the week, so drift a bit of a concern but worth a go, imo Gl all

can go either way which ever way he goes he,s drawn 17 of 17 and furthest away from rail on either side with no evidence before race which side is best, and had to make his mind up after a furlong one of the most stupid sayings in racing

Bred to be a G1 horse in fact both mom and dad won G1s at the track, loves the mud, distance winner, will handle the course (early season form), nice enough weight.
Think the race will set up nicely for him.

1tp, you're right that there has been no evidence at this meeting as to which side is best, but the jocks may have a preference for ground or pace reasons Being in the middle gives you a choice, you don't have to go right across to either flank Anyway, we'll see

I looked back at results when the ground was described as soft for this race and could only find two this century - 2005 and 2010.
Recent runnings have all favoured horses racing near side and therefore it points to high numbers.
Those two "soft" ground events had the first four home all racing far side - still couldn't get one in the fecking frame tho
