Kids braindead, very very ordinary since he lost his claim, ridiculous what he just done on My Delilah, never put in the race.

its always the way prices seem to be short on his mounts maybe not all him but hes been built up and up the drop is always further.

Riding 20 consecutive favourites that lose is quite an achievement, doubt it has ever been bettered in my lifetime.

Seriously doubt if any trainer or jockey has ever matched Billys achievement.

like i said for years something needs to be done to protect these kids . too many 'vultures' snapping for their claim.

Not surprised by the reference to Buick/Aplleby, if anyone can beat Billys achievement either of those two could manage it quite easily.

Using Billy and this thread as an example..
It should confirm that judging jockeys on individual rides and even over several days is the reason you get Billy bollox one week and then what's gone wrong with Billy a week later.
No jockey even themselves know what standard of ride they're about to deliver so any jockey will only be as good as their last ride.
Everyone has their fav and also the one that always seems to let them down for a fortune.

Best way is not to elevate Billy as the next Lester when he rides a winner and don't start over criticizing him when he has a losing run on horses that you've realistically no idea if they'd have won with another pilot , let the lad progress his career and see how it all pans out , with betting involved i know that's an impossible ask though.

What this thread shows me is something I have been awarte of for donkeys years, a half decent claiming jockey is worth his/her weight in gold, its a different matter when their claim expires, seen it tons of times through the years. Billy could be a really good jockey with more experience, but his claim helped him enourmously. Good luck to the kid, Im sure he knows things arent going particularly well currently.

Kids just not getting the breaks, strange choice to race alone on his latest ride at Newbury on what looked the slowest part of the track Two more fancied rides to come at Newbury this evening, hopefully he will kick them both home to build his confidence again.

All over the place on the 11/10 fav there too, would probably have won if he hadnt gone all over the place then strangled it for the first half of the race, just not happening for him at all.

I think we need an update from one of the jockey stats gurus on here.

But NEC, the jockey stats gurus are a bit more sophisticated when measuring how a jockey's doing, eg actual over expected.

he's 18! of course he's got a bit of learning to do, nobody knows their job inside out at that age ffs

give the kid a break not every ride will be perfect but he's clearly got the ability to far given the right ammo

Nice to see Billy win that one, probably had 2 stone in hand but a winner is a winner and Im sure Billy is pleased.

Punters have him sussed now ? On the favourite there, drifted from 2.6 opening show to 4.0 bfsp
