the horse that very nearly beat frankel in the st james palace wouldnt get 12 lengths near the great horse in 99% of the time, the ride by quelly that day must be the worse ive ever seen, it was diabolical and god knows how frankel did win

That was a shocker Elis. The great horse got him out of jail .Seemed panicked by his own abdulla pacemaker. His riding of Frankel should have been an oppourtunity for Queally to elevate his career but seemed to do him as much harm as good. His ride in the Guineas wasnt so great either despite a superb performance from the horse.

Pointless speculation but the OP calling an opinion insulting is in itself insulting to anyone who does not agree with his own. Just to spice up the boring thread I will opine that Harbinger may have thrashed all those named had they run in his final race including breaking Frankel before the 10F pole. Also the ratings are nothing to do with Timeform for those who appear not to know and Harbinger ran off 123 and then upped to 135 for a performance that surpassed that of Frankels last race despite the ratings!! IMVHO of course.

Harbinger got his rating racing on "concrete" against horses that wouldn't let themselves down. Doesn't mean his rating is wrong but ratings don't tell you the greatest horse just the form performance on the day.

Think I would put COT in the Mill Reef class which makes him a pretty special horse.

That's a very high bar, howard.

Komrade Howard, Harbingers last race was on Good Ground which is why the performance was so outstanding. HTH

Sounds like Aidan would agree sparrow. Horse is another Hawk Wing toby one performance way better than the rest. Needed top of the ground no doubt about that. Nowt wrong with that but helps your rating if the other good horses in the race ideally like some cut. King George he won odds-on fav didn't run his race and serial loser Youmzain in 3rd. A long way from the strongest KG but distances make it look good. It was good but no more. Just my opinion.

So the track record not backing up the performance Komrade?
|
|
By:
COT broke the track record at York. But it was the 15th best timefigure in the race this century. Track records per se are meaningless ( Phil Bull )
|
|
By:
So you say the other horses would not let themselves down on good ground and the winning distance and time are irrelevant, when did you go skint Komrade, before or after the race?
|

By:
just looking back at the race 5 runners not counting the 100/1 pacemaker. Fav wasn't himself. Not a vintage KG. But plenty love the performance you're not alone. I won't be one so I will leave it there.
