Ryan doesn't like it because he doesn't do it because he doesn't like it.
Someone should have a word, book him on some media training, then make him chat to Lydia after every single race so it becomes second nature. It's like driving. You take lessons then practise until it becomes second nature. Or, dare I say it, like riding horses. Look at football or Formula One or tennis or golf or even the bloody Olympics for people happy to give interviews, often in front of sponsors' logos.
Racing is full of selfish idiots who can't see the big picture and won't even stand back to look for one. We are looking for new sponsors, new owners and new fans, but no-one will lift a finger to help, and the sharks will be out to rip them off.

I think for whatever reason he is really uncomfortable in these interviews because most of the time he is looking at the floor rather than the person speaking to him.

whilst his approach leaves a lot to be desired, and ramruna is correct up to a point in respect of "you can learn to do most things with training and practice" I may be in a minority of 1 in saying I would be perfectly happy if there were no interviews at all with jockeys and trainers ever again. We know that each horse "will give a good account of him/herself", that they will "take her/him back home, speak to the owner then make a plan". That no jockey has ever made a mistake so doesn't get challenged. I am fed up with the cascade of cliches which are dumped upon us several times a day. The sight yesterday of Lydia chasing after Moore pleading " Ryan....Ryan.....RYAN....one more question" only to ask him some inane rubbish about Content and the Breeders Cup was embarrassing. Some more analysis of races would be preferable. A rerun of the zillions of recordings of old races they hold would be great. A Beethoven symphony! All would be better than these pitiful interviews.

Agree Donegal , they've only just jumped off the horse normally when they're asked the stock questions.......
-What does winning this race mean to you -Where would you rank this horse against all the greats you've ridden -Where do you think it'll go next -etc
Pretty tedious stuff when you think the obvious answers to the last one should be no idea before you've had chance to speak to connections and asking to compare to the past is ridiculous after passing the post , when asked what it means to them i'd love one jockey to just quote the riding payment

Most jockeys manage easily enough and the best interviews are often with young apprentices winning for the first time. It's not the big deal that some make it out to be.

I was only referring to the autograph signing session which I am guessing didn't take up too much time, nothing to do with inane interviews.
Just a smile, an autograph, and at least giving impression that you are behind the initiative shouldn't have been too difficult. Certainly something you shouldn't need any training to do.
