David O'Meara, the way he keeps the old boys competitive like Summerghand, Escobar and Muscika, is quite impressive, it's one thing to line one up for a one-off hit, another to keep them coming back year after year.

And along the same lines, Jim Goldie.

And I often wonder, what would have happened if Sea The Stars had been sent to Sir Mark Prescott, who many would regard as the handicap king, even allowing for the odd major Group 1 success.

Would Sea The Stars have been given three quick runs on the all-weather over 5f at the backend of his juvenile year, looking big and backward?

Then turn up, gelded, in early July at Hamilton for a 0-60 3YO 8.5f handicap where he'd scramble home at odds of 10-11?

Before winning his next six handicaps and rising to rating of 92?

And then being sold to Graham Wylie for £200K?

Answers on a postcard to...

George,  I dont think he's trying to get you, but I think he proves the point as the only Colt on the list was not gelded as you insinuated would be the case and he won GR1s and went on to enjoy a very successful career at stud.

As all the others on the list are mares, I think the point he was trying to make was that Sir Mark is quite capable of spotting a decent one when he has one in his care.
