It gives a breakdown of the units which I hadn't seen before

At the moment, 15 minutes before the first at Ascot, the guaranteed 150k pot is broken down as 80k public money, 70k "T0te own seeded money"

At York with an hour to go, 100k guaranteed pot is split 45k/55k

I had no idea they were putting in nearly half the money, just thought it was topping up

Makes the whole seeding thing worse than I previously thought

Ascot pot total is £194.393.84.

So I'm assuming that there was no need to seed it. Could be wrong but that seems a logical decision.

But as I said, 15 minutes before the off they had put 70k in themselves

194k minus 70k equals 124k
So I guess if they had waited until the last minute could have just done 26k to take it up to the 150k guaranteed

I would guess the level of seeded money reduces as the 'public' money grows. Presumably once the 'public' money reached £150k the seeded money became zero.

There's likely never any Tote money added into the pool until it closes. At this point if they need to bump it up they probably extrapolate the "public" money splits up to the guaranteed value. eg if the "public" money made up exactly £50k on a £100k guaranteed pool they would match everyone's bets exactly.

Ascot paid £191.60, I thought that was a bit disappointing really given the results.
