It is also the Timeform pick in any case (FW that's worth), so a decent form chance even without it being his last ride.
Decent chance he gets some fairly favourable treatment in the race from his chums. |

Just the ground worries me otherwise he looks very solid.......good jockey Phil Dennis ...Rode winners for Mick Mulineax...which is an achievement!!!!
|

By:
beverley off too? All races currently suspended on BF, or is that just the usual inept monkeys SOP in action?

Watch this space!
Really sorry but it looks like we’re having problems with parts of the site. Our engineers are working to resolve the situation. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. |

Not any rain forecast after about 12.30 today, so ground shouldn't be too soft by 5.00. As said it has some softer ground form too.
Can see them offering a 'surprisingly' easy passage for this one to trot in. |

6.3 reading earlier suggests some good in ground.

Unsettled conditions this afternoon with mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers, some of which could be heavy and locally thundery. The showers will begin to ease late in the day.

I think most have cleared in reality, though guess we'll see - depends which site for the weather predictions.

Ugo Gregory made the running when winning the race last year, and SDS went off like the clappers on King Of Fury round Kempton last time out, so as Park Street needs a pace to come off given his usual hold-up tactics, it will interesting to see if SDS and David Allan get hooked up in a speed duel.

Anyone local?
|

1 mile from course, 2mm of rain overnight, drizzle stopped 9am, dry rest of morning, cloudy and expected to stay dry this afternoon.

Thanks Ash.

By:
His only other ride today (16:00 Variety Island), dropping back to 5f for first time since his 2yo days, with a First Time Visor was "off for it's life" imo.

yep noticed that one too, nearly backed it.

At risk of aftertiming, these pre-announced retirement winners never come off.
The ones we all remember are where the jockey waits for a winner, then retires on the spot. |

Ramruma, is that the market without Tony Dobbin @ Carlisle?
|
|
By:
choc thornton over jumps - easy last race winner in his career
|
|
By:
He's got a job as a starter
|
|
By:
Has winning form on good/firm going
|
|
By:
I selected King Of Fury a couple of times on my thread and he let me down. Not sure about the ground but he's been shaping as though this sort of test may suit.

George.B OK Tony Dobbin had two races on his pre-announced last day at Carlisle. He won on Ballyvoge in the Dobbs Finale & Future Best Wishes Novices' Chase at 4/11 in a field of five.
But he was also on the jolly in the previous race where he pulled up. But yes, I suppose it counts. https://www.racingpost.com/results/2008-04-10 |

sad final effort to be fair - friends weren't generous either then

stu -- Choc Thornton was forced out through injury caused by a fall on Say When in his last ride. You must be thinking of someone else. Andrew Thornton was runner-up on his final outing so not him either.

|
By:
oh was maybe a different jump jock, just remember the seas parting on others for him to win, even though horse wasn't greatest...
|
|
By:
Similar thing when Murphy's comeback ride, Jibareen, absolutely scooted up @ 3/1 Fav with no other jockey even making an effort to get involved.
|
|
By:
Phil rode his first and last winner for Katie Scott
His fist was in a ptp and last at Hamilton |
|
By:
2019 onwards has been an above avg pro imo
met him once when at kirbys no ego no issues whatsoever GL to him in his future endeavours |

A good rider and a lovely bloke, struggled with his weight and hopefully now enjoying life to the full. I wish him well in his new job.
