The Boston and Skegness constituency in Lincolnshire has been won by Richard Tice with a majority of 2,010 votes. The election saw Tice beat the other six candidates and secure a victory for his party.
The constituency has long been a stronghold for the Conservative party, with Matt Warman holding the position of MP from 2015 to 2024, and before that Mark Simmonds held the role from 2001 until 2015 after being elected three times. Warman achieved 13,510 votes, with some Conservatives spotted in tears as they realised they had lost the seat. |

The chief beneficiary of this election are the Liberals with 71 seats (from 8) despite getting 500k lesser votes than Reform (5 seats). And, to a lesser extent Labour with just 1.6% more votes than in 2019, but with 211 more seats.

Nothing was done over energy for decades. Nothing has been done over water supply for decades. Nothing has been done to make the NHS work properly. The list goes on. |

The two utilities ie Energy and Water were bought by foreign entities courtesy of British shareholders and pension funds for a quick buck usually just prior to annual x'mas bonus. How the heck could these have been allowed? Where was the M%M Commission?
These utilities are sacrosanct and should not have been sold to foreign entities. This was the main cause of the increase in the cost of living and Putin/Ukraine War. Now, with the mega dividends mis-appropriated/siphoned by foreign shareholders over the necessary minimum investment required to maintain production level/ability some of these utilities could be on their last legs and major investments needed to return them to post sale levels. Personal greed supersedes national interests - that's the story of the present UK (business) mentality. |

I think Bojo was good at Covid containment post personal experiences. But, he'd too many skeletons in his closet to be an effective PM eg the main one being Partygate; 2nd, repeatedly and knowingly 'lying' to Parliament. He was also a wounded PM at the mercy of his sycophantic colleagues with vested interests.
Conservatives definitely lost the election - no doubt about that. They were pulling in opposite/different directions; Ms Truss did not help. Mr Sunak was also weak, and not a good leader - he was a fudged-pot; they deserved what they got on thursday. Hopefully, Sir Starmer and his charisma-less personality can take a more forthright, determined and lawyer-like discipline approach to British politics and holding public offices. I think some in his Cabinet are experienced, qualified and capable in making the UK respectable again. I firmly believe UK is a better proposition than the mish-mash EU. |

Ms Rayner? I think she's ok. It's never easy for a woman who's womanly and attractive; she's bound to come under the scrutiny of some boyos. She's come a long way from her teenage years; she's making a comfortable life for herself. I think her new post ie in charge of building new affordable homes could put her in the spotlight again unless she treads carefully and intelligently.

Think people like me are getting left behind. The only candidate i did 'get' in the election was Farage. But I am an old lefty so I can never vote for him. Just put the X next to the Labour bod & wondered what have I done... From my bare understanding of economics, government finances will rely on economic growth. With growth, revenues increase and the national debt gets smaller. Rachel Reeves worked for Mark Carney at the Bank of England, who was for my money the best BOE guv'nor in living memory.. I should imagine that Lab will step aside & just let events take their course. The GDP will rise without any big government decisions. And then its happy days, relatively. The UK is a rich country after all. I do remember when Blair took over. All the talk was that Labour would crash the economy. Then Gordon Brown announced he was handing monetary policy to the BoE. And with one fell swoop the Tories disappeared into anonymity. Wouldnt be at all surprised if recent history repeated itself. |

As Chancellor Gordon Brown gave us the longest run of economic growth this country had ever seen. And when it did eventually turn sour it was because of the global financial meltdown that affected all developed countries.
We never had crumbling public services under Blair/Brown we didn't have food banks. As for selling off gold. *****BOTH PARTIES HAVE SOLD OFF GOLD RESERVES***** and the amount what Gordon Brown sold was minor compared to what others sold off.  Furthermore if it wasn't for Gordon Brown we would have been using Euros not Pounds (and Brexit would never have happened) And this site would not exist because he scrapped betting tax too. |

After the Banking crisis ie bank oF england took their eye off the ball and allowed lenders to lend blindly and unprofessionally another free reign is most unlikely; a monitored- approach with only the necessary intervention - if and when necessary - I think.
Mark Carney was very capable, independent and astute in managing UK Banking. He was good for UK Plc. |
