Thank goodness that this summer Donny have stopped doing the exact same thing in favour of a small stage away to the right of the stand.
But what made me laugh a couple of years ago was when I pointed out to the chief exec of the track how much of the straight was being blocked by the stage.
Her reply was 'Well, that's what the big screen is for'. My reply, laced with a couple of mild expletives was 'Well, I might as well not buy my annual badge and instead buy a giant TV and stay at home"
Her reply...'Well, you might as well then' Oh yes, customer relations and an understanding of racing had clearly played out a nil-nil draw in her head!!
