When I was young men who had tattoos were either thugs or sailors or both. Women were in circuses.

Tattoos anywhere look hideous, but nobody in this world of diversity where nearly everything is deemed acceptable will ever say as much.

I work with a guy that has tattoos and also one on his neck.....hes far from an idiot but is currently paying a lot of money to have them removed.....he deeply regrets having them....something he foolishly did in his early 20s. We all make mistakes

This gave them an air of virility and transgression, which other people wanted to co-opt: in short they wanted to look tough and dangerous. Now that everyone is smothered in them, and most of them look ****, I find that tattoos are now a mark of conformism, denoting nothing but fashion victimhood.

A few years ago I was waiting for a bus when a bloke came and stood next to me . I could see that he had writing tattooed on the back of his neck but could not read it as he kept turning his head .So when the bus arrived I pretended to be looking for change and ushered him to board first .I positioned myself two seats behind him in order to read the words on the back of his neck .The words read - Follow me to the Blue Bell in Felling Square . That must have been hilarious in that pub for about five minutes .
