Another reducing that 'all profits go to racing' banner that Racing TV like to proclaim. As far as I can see he has added nothing. Don't know why they thought he would be any good. His interviews were like pulling teeth.

Thought the same... not a natural broadcaster imvho.

It seems every jockey retiring gets a gig.

Not a natural sums it

Give him time. Mr Lineker was carp when he started presenting MOTD; he'd not even read the autocue without stumbling every few sentences - he was not a natural. But, for having been a good footballer he'd have been ditched after a few weeks. Now, the BBC is unable or unwilling to sack him because of his cohorts in the BBC football arena; his promotion for a certain type of crisps on the BBC ought to have been disallowed given the type of broadcaster the BBC is.

I cannot understand why the BBC thinks certain presenters are beyond the pale, and unsackable. If in doubt ask any taxpayer or licence fee payer.

Be careful what you wish for, We let "the taxpayer" choose the Prime Minister every 4/5 years and that has certainly never worked out too well in my lifetime.

I notice we quickly moved from RTV to the BBC there.  Some things never change on here.

The "taxpayers" keep electing people that will go to great lengths not to pay any tax themselves. Same in the USA. Ironic.

In case there is a gardening/BBC thread - That Monty Don looks like a commie imo! Wink
Report sparrow • May 3, 2024 9:11 AM BST
You can talk about all that stuff on the Politics Forum.

I was having a laugh sparrow - but I will desist and remove myself to the Left Wing Gardeners Forum (which sounds like a decidedly dodgy euphemism imo).

I'm back already.

Apparently all the Left Wing Gardners - want open borders!

I'll get me coat.

I would have thought TM you might have something to say about RTV employing all these ex jockeys and some with rather dubious reputations at that.
Report The Management • May 3, 2024 9:35 AM BST
They've got to do something - after the casting for Snow White is closed, I don't suppose they have too many options now that the "wokes" have ruined the chimney sweeping industry.

On a more serious not - Surely being a bit of a rogue comes with the territory, it's a requirement of the job.
Report sparrow • May 3, 2024 9:59 AM BST
Cheating punters is a bit more than you are intimating TM.
Report The Management • May 3, 2024 10:01 AM BST
Would imagine it's like any other job in this respect - you do what you are told to do or try to look like you are doing what you are told. Otherwise you may longer be required.
Report The Management • May 3, 2024 10:09 AM BST
Is an EPL manager that fields a lot of fringe/reserve players for a Cup match cheating punters?

It happens, you know it happens, I know it happens. As a punter (if you bet on that sort of thing), it's part of your job to take that kind of thing into account (as best you can) when you are doing the analysis of winning chance versus price available.

If you cannot do that (as is the case in an awful lot of horse races imo), then you probably shouldn't be betting on them or only be betting on them knowing that you have insufficient knowledge of what might happen.

A load of pocket talking jockey bashing threads every day.
Threads exclaiming surprise and disappointment that the best broadcasters in the world aren't covering a minority interest sport that is dying on it's 4rse.

No wonder the forum is dead.

Except the electorate didn't get to vote for the last two PMs.

The same with May when she took over from Cameron.

Gordon Brown took over from Blair. John Major took over from Thatcher.

F4rty - Your next "holiday" would be Rwanda!

Dr C - Fair point - but unless you happen to live in the right constituency - you never get to vote for the PM.
