Deemed a runner, now that is stupid. The starter made a mistake but you have to think that he didn't see the horse wrong way around but no mitigation for stewards.

An enquiry was held into the start of this race and the circumstances surrounding MAASAI MARA facing the wrong way when the start was effected and subsequently not jumping off. The Starter and Jack Tudor, the rider of MAASAI MARA, were interviewed and shown a recording of the start. Having heard their evidence and viewed footage of the incident, a report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.

He said he had to be deemed to be a runner because they were under orders but they can be deemed non runners if they disadvantaged through no fault of the horse/jockey when the race starts on the flat.

to be fair,think TUDOR was as asleep as the starter,2nd start horses didnt whip round just slowly turned round with TUDOR doing their bare minimum if anything to stop it
