IRAN: we are going to attack you, btw we will tell you before and it will take 2 hours before they arrive.
Does anyone believe this, the whole thing stinks.IRAN: we are going to attack you, btw we will tell you before and it will take 2 hours before they arrive.
the idea is they launch loads of drones to overload air defences, then faster cruise missiles then finally even faster ballistic missiles all arriving at the same time.

Yes. The same Iranian drones and the same subsequent missile tactics which the people of Russia are launching at my family in Ukraine every single night.
Tonight'e events make the identity of the enemy clear - the Islamists of Iran combined with the people of Russia: two cheeks on the same primitive arse.

I haven't seen that film, penzance, and I don't particularly want to. I got enough descriptions of wartime fear from my father. He was eighteen in 1939 when the Russians arrived in his village south of L'viv (that area of western Ukraine - Galicia - had found itself part of Poland after WW1, so the Russians duly invaded in September 1939 in support of their Nazi allies). His parents were shot (they used to employ contractors on the farm at harvest time, so were accused of exploiting the workers). My father spent the next six years fighting Russians and Communists in general in that part of the world. I only got vague bits and pieces of descriptions from him over the years, but that was nightmarish enough, with things like crucifixions having been commonplace.
I have a cousin in Sumy, in the north east of Ukraine, who's the grandson of my father's sister. He has a company which designs industrial control systems. On 24 February 2022 he was on business in Ternopil', in the south west of the country. His wife and nine-year-old son were back in Sumy, 500 miles away, while his daughter was at university in Kyiv, midway between the two cities (her twin sister was thankfully at university in Dresden at the time, so was safe). That night, and over the following couple of days, he had to find fuel and drive across the country to pick them all up and take them to safety with the rest of the family in Truskavets', in the Carpathians. It was hair-raising stuff, twice being confronted by Russian armour and having to accelerate away. He's a huge fan of Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear, but he confirmed that evading tanks in a Peugeot with your family in the back is not a fun challenge.
So, you know, I don't really want to see wartime fear in all its graphic horror.
More particularly, I worry that the horror depicted will further the Russian cause, by promoting the ceasefire which the Kremlin so desperately needs. The people of Russia have been murdering Ukrainians for a century now, and there is only one way they will ever be stopped - when the people of Russia are killed in such numbers that they have to withdraw. Anything else will just be treated by them as a handy pause to re-arm and try again.
