Praising Supple when he knows full well he has been criticised at Festival after Festival.

Also said he likes standing starts. Was he just talking about the National? They should be stopped in all races. They should walk in until they get it right. That might even stop the likes of Supple calling them back so many times.

Copadanno? I hope he's wrong. I still remember he dissed Galopin Desc Champs post the horse's inadequate trip and 1st outing defeat this season; his reason being 2023 Gold Cup could have "bottomed" the horse.

John Francome is the best ever NH jockey for me. And, he also had massive professional competition and no "monopolistic" stable (UK or Ireland) to rely upon.

Ed just said "start time brought forward to 4pm to help the horses"...
But he didn't say why it helped them and I can't guess
Any ideas?

Maybe the ground could be more chewed up given the then probable going eg heavy. Nevertheless, 4pm is about right; teatime could be inconveniencing those prepping the dinner.

3.40 pm was the traditional off time when I first watched the race.  If I recall accurately.

Yes loyal, 345 I think
To coincide with half time at the football

I recall betting on the market for the tv audience the first time it was scheduled for after the football. Those were the days! Viewers were around 10 million if I recall correctly.

I think they brought the start forward to reduce the chance of fences being omitted due to a possible high Sun.

Can you imagine that happening in the GN like it does every other day. Laugh

.... Low Sun obviously a typo Happy

They brought the start forward to prevent the ground drying out

Described Corach Rambler as 'over jumping' when clearly he didn't get high enough.

I have to say that the winner seems absolutely jampacked full - or stappit fu' as we say up here - of stamina.
