better  then  most male    jockeys
thats why they are jealous  of  her
Report Jumping-cuckoo-monk April 11, 2024 4:57 PM BST
It's a good job she rides a winner so rarely otherwise this forum would be overrun with threads about her. Cool
Report themightymac April 11, 2024 4:57 PM BST
Great ride by Bryony there. Well done!
Report themightymac April 11, 2024 4:58 PM BST
Horses run and jump for her. Great NH jockey.
Report brendrew April 11, 2024 5:02 PM BST
Plain to see.her+ Cobden probably the best on a front runner.
Report Chadfan April 11, 2024 5:02 PM BST
Great to see her win on the big stage again. She is totally loyal to Nicholls, but come on the other UK trainers, open your eyes ffs!
Report ashleigh April 11, 2024 5:10 PM BST
she might be off to ride in France, with the weight allowance.Grin
Report Jumping-cuckoo-monk April 11, 2024 5:10 PM BST
She's going to France I hear. Gets a claim. More prize money there. Wise move.
Report Chadfan April 11, 2024 5:26 PM BST
Look out France! Bryony with a 5lb allowance again, must be a big advantage. But she also wants to stay at Ditcheat as well I believe.
Report LoyalHoncho April 11, 2024 6:03 PM BST
"Better than most male jockeys"  lol.
I'd give you as good as most male jockeys but no more than that.
Report Trendy April 11, 2024 6:33 PM BST
Ace ride, also great little horse, well done Bryony.
Report Popadom April 11, 2024 9:47 PM BST
Nicholls said bryony should go to France for the summer that's after a winner on his horse why didn't he just say I don't want you anymore because that's what he means she's a good jockey and deserves more rides  won't look good if nicholls pushes her out but would like her to leave deserve better
Report ribero1 April 11, 2024 9:54 PM BST
As Nicholls says very hard for plenty of jockeys not just her to get rides, she  just gets the publicity,Hislop bigging her up ffs.
Report thelatarps April 11, 2024 10:23 PM BST
For my money Bryony is the best jock in england.
Better than Cobden & Nico. Only Harry Skelton can hold a candle to her.
The Irish may be another matter but if i needed someone to ride a winner it would be the Bryster.
Report Chadfan April 11, 2024 10:34 PM BST
During a dull afternoon, I worked out the prize money per ride won by each jockey who has ridden 200 or more times for Nicholls. Bryony is only beaten by Ruby Walsh, she was just ahead of Cobden. Probably doesn't mean much but it surprised me. She is, for whatever reason, underrated, and if she goes to France I wish her well.
Report LoyalHoncho April 12, 2024 3:10 AM BST
Get yourself a life man.  lmao.  "I worked out".  Were you creaming yourself as you did it?
Report Popadom April 12, 2024 7:02 AM BST
I think she will play into Nichols hands if she goes to France can’t be seen to sack her as public love her would make Nichols look bad but if she went he would replace her over the summer with someone and she would quietly disappear as if it was her choice to go stay in England bryony it’s a better bet
Report Chadfan April 12, 2024 9:46 AM BST
Another intelligent contribution from Honcho I see.
Report Somerset Sam April 12, 2024 9:57 AM BST
The Robbie Dunne episode clearly has had a huge impact on her career over here. A move over the channel could be just what she needs and good luck to her if she does go.

Yesterday's ride shows she is still extremely capable yet continues, to my eyes anyway, to be overlooked by the industry. Is this as a direct result of the court case?

Only the majority of owners and trainers truly know but from the outside its not a great look.

An unintelligent one from Chadfan.  She;s so indispensible to Nicholls she is out in his long grass.
Not for the first time in her career, the female jockey, who is so much better than "most male jockeys" - according to Chadfan - is not being used in the National.
She is most certainly not under=rated but very much rated as worth avoiding.
Is that significant do you think?
Report Ramruma April 13, 2024 5:08 AM BST
If you think Bryony is better than average then it follows she is better than most male jockeys.

Why she is not more used is a separate question and probably includes dinosaur connections. Women jockeys are more accepted on the Flat but how long has that taken? And it is still not universal.
Report brendrew April 13, 2024 8:30 AM BST
Honcho- you now to easy. Have you ever thought of sitting a Bryony thread out? She clearly lives rent free in your head. Limited opportunities yet still gets more winn we rs at festivals than dunne.
It's been all systems go to get Cobden over the line.hopefully in time things will swing round for her.

Conveniently not answering the point made that you've decided to be nasty and cruel for no apparent reason other than sensationalism and guesswork on an anonymous horse racing forum. Well done.

I'll again say to you, imagine it was your relative that was getting these things made up about them. Have a serious word with yourself.

Folk get hung up about if she's better or worse than jockey, a, b or c. Who really cares, shell have good days and vad days like everyone else does. She should be judged as a jockey regardless of what changing room she uses.

No dream start to Bryony Frost's French adventure as she hits the turf at Auteuil

Bryony Frost may have considered all sorts of changes and adjustments to her life that a move to France would entail, but horses remain horses, whatever country you're riding in.

Unfortunately that also means accidents will happen, and her second ride as retained jockey here for Simon Munir and Isaac Souede ended in all-too-familiar fashion, her mount Fret D'Estruval brought down at Auteuil's deceptively named Petit Open Ditch.

The challenge of jumping its larger cousin, the yawning Rail Ditch and Fence, will have to wait for another day, although mercifully horse and rider were none the worse for the mishap.

Frost has based herself at champion trainer Francois Nicolle's yard in Royan on the Atlantic coast, and her link-up with Munir and Souede has given her French adventure added significance. What was initially viewed as a three-month summer break to experience a different racing culture has potentially taken on much more importance.

Wednesday's two rides were designed to give Frost an early taste of France's 'Temple of Jump Racing', the place where she will hope to make her mark before too long.

Accompanied by former jockey Benoit Gicquel, who now manages the racing interests of the 'double green' partnership in France (although Munir and Souede's colours are actually green and red diamonds in the country), Frost appeared on a mission to meet as many people as possible at the racecourse.

Gicquel and Frost walked the track on Saturday, the day when the new partnership with Munir and Souede was announced, and made another tour before racing on Wednesday.

Introduced to Marcel Rolland, the veteran trainer of her first ride, Raffles Nobu, she was asked how she found the track, to which she replied with typical candour: "I'll know a lot more in ten minutes."

Raffles Nobu was pulled up on desperate ground on his last start, and if the idea was to restore his confidence nobody can complain about the ride he was given, as Frost allowed the four-year-old to take his time before creeping into contention on the home turn.

The effort wasn't sustained all the way to the line but Rolland is the sort of trainer who will always take the long view.

A Munir and Souede homebred out of a Grade 1-winning chaser is just the sort of horsepower Frost is here to tap into, and having first call on such regally bred horses under the care of the best trainers in France must be a huge draw.

Nine-year-old Fret D'Estruval was presumably selected as a suitably sage and safe conveyance for Frost's first experience of the chase track and had been an absolute gent, up until the moment the pair were brought down to earth. He was still chasing the leaders jumping the last, which goes to prove the theory was sound.

There will be many better days but you have to start somewhere. Frost has come here to work hard and success will surely be in close attendance.
