Getting monotonous with these huge bets being landed prior to big race meetings?

Punters name is Don Chalant, lives in Ardera, has Mousey Brown Hair.

Should be a lot more than that. Or did d crookies penalise him. If its not a fantasy story of course.

Over £350K that would be  with those prices.

n Irish punter is €331,000 richer after landing an astonishing bet on three horses running at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

The opening day of the Fairyhouse Easter Festival was a graveyard for most punters, with all seven favourites failing to land the odds.

But this punter looked away from the favourites with his inspired selections in a €20 each-way treble.



The first horse was 9/1 shot Don Chalant, who easily won the Tom Quinlan Electrical Maiden Hurdle.

The winnings then rolled onto 33/1 Ardera Ru in the **** (Mares) Handicap Chase.

Sent off at 18/1, Shane O'Callaghan rode the gelding to a three and three-quarter lengths victory to keep the dream alive.

The bet all came down to the punter's final section, 50/1 shot Mousey Brown in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle.

Mousey Brown was held up in rear and was only in fourth place jumping the last hurdle, but he stayed on well to beat the 6/4 favourite Olympic Man.

The amazing bet saw the Irish punter pocket €331,452.80 in total from Coral bookmakers.

Coral's David Stevens said: “This customer will have an Easter to remember after he incredibly picked these three big priced winners at Fairyhouse, turning €40 into more than €330,000 as a result.

"Never mind chocolate eggs, this jackpot is more of a golden egg!"

I wonder if the winning punter is a regular or a known face to the bookie. Otherwise an unknown will probably be subject to id verification and AC scrutiny.

Imagine winning all that dosh and bookie is unwilling to pay up. The mental distress could be more damaging than the reward of the winning bet.

Not seen the photo but I’ve no doubt it’s genuine. He’s had a stab at a nice place treble and got ultra lucky landing the win part too. If you’re gonna have an ew treble, May as well try and land a monster instead of a tiddler.

I can believe this because I’ve done crazy eachway trebles like this before.

Landed the biggie that we all dream off. Fair play to the guy, enjoy the winnings.

There is something up because as penzance says, the payout ought to be more. On the other hand, the payout is not low enough for it to have hit a maximum limit as jamee1 suggests. There does not seem to have been a rule 4 deduction. I do not think there is a betting tax in Ireland.

Who knows? My wild guess is someone in Corals press office accidently gave out the wrong figure.

He took 7/1 for the first horse. That would pay £281,452.80. Corals must cap the BOG bonus at £50k. That makes his winnings spot on to the penny. No conspiracy.

they think a 6lb rise makes the horse less than 2% to win

It shows you what those extra two points are worth when they’re coupled with some biggies. It still cost him £20k!

The 14:10 was a maiden hurdle, the 16:30 was a novice handicap hurdle. I would have thought max payout for this bet would have been £100k?

The £100k is for foreign rubbish. If someone landed a huge acca at Dundalk on Friday night the maximum would be £1m.

Next question is whether Corals will ever take an each-way treble from this lucky punter again. Didn't sixtwosix say that happened to him after he copped his big win?

if,i,d just paid out nearly 300 grand on a once in a lifetime bet,i,d lock the doors,tie the punter down in a chair give him a nice pen,plenty of slips feed him as many tea/coffee and bickies that he wants and wouldnt open the door till he,d lost the 300,grand,

If they present his cheque and he's got mousey brown hair and a brother named Don then i'd imagine the answer is a resounding yes Ramruna.

Especially with the anticipation that he'll start multiplying his stake levels somewhat.

whats the alternative banning him and either letting him bank it or lose it to another bookmaker, if you cant take a  punter like him on,who can you take on ?,  might as well close down

They weren't bad ew races for the bookie.  I'd have said the opposite.  If the markets were properly formed, it probably would've paid substantially more win and place at the exchange price at the time the bet was struck.

Agree Clydebank , it was the furthest from a bad e/way treble imaginable.

To restrict any punter after placing that bet would be unthinkable , win or lose.

WHY THE FOOK  would you restrict someone who,s just walked away with 300 grand of your money on a bet bookmakers want every single one of their customers to place a 100 times a day for the rest of their lifes

Nobody is disagreeing with you 1sttp , don't think there's a bookie in the land that would do so even in this climate.

posts on here .above saying downside is the bookmaker refusing to take anymore bets of you,i,d say the bigger problem would be getting out before they locked you in,till you bet it all back

So if capital is irrelevant to affordability, they have to restrict his spending well before he looks like giving it back?
