I remember he had a few heart murmurs. He got checked out but they didn't find anything. His last words were, isn't that channel 5 ****!

Callan was the best. Nearly everybody with a tv set in UK watched it every week.

Re Big Deal, his girlfriend played by Sharon Duce was easy on the eye.

Rewatching Hazell some time ago reminded me times were different back then, at least for actors. Hazell could handle himself; he was quite a hard man when necessary. Until in one scene he took his shirt off to reveal no muscle tone whatsoever and very little muscle. Nowadays we hear about how long stars spend in the gym, about Daniel Craig adding three inches of muscle to play Bond and so on. Not back then.

Also, that barnet!

Loved Budgie.

First saw it when it was repeated on Channel 4 back around 1985/86.

My mum and dad were big fans of Iain Cuthbertson, having watched the series when it first aired in the early 70s.

I especially enjoyed the episodes in which Margaret Nolan ( aka Vicki Kennedy ) appeared. God, she was gorgeous... . Love

I remember Budgie being filmed at Rosemary Park in Hackney near where we lived, i think it was the one with all the money flying around. we went over there as kids and spoke to Jock the park keeper (Remember them ?). he said Faith was a nice guy.

Ian Cuthbertson played Lord Hailsham in the film 'Scandal'.
I think he married the Australian Actress Esma Cannon, she was in loads of old comedy films.

Yeah, The Baron was one of my favs. Also the theme tunes to a lot of the old detective series were truly outstanding! The Protectors, The Champions, Department S , Jason King, The Avengers, Joe 90, Randall and Hopkirk, to name but a few Excited

Anyone remember Dinsdale Landon as gambler Micky Dunne? Sang over the opening titles

Mickey Dunne knows a horse
That should have won
But didn't even start
Broke a jockeys heart.

Some good tales  in that series and a few laughs.

Budgie was repeated on Channel 4 on Friday nights, late 80s or early 90s.  Never saw any evidence of it being outstanding TV myself.
