Think he mentioned that his turnover was £30,000 per week, not sure who is taking those bets and liquidity on betfair not good early.

Easily done if your laying a few .

Rico probably does that in a day.

Report tanglefoot March 28, 2024 5:53 PM GMT

Back in the day you were laughed at and called a lazy work shy B if you dare say you were a pro gambler.

I knew quite a few who packed in their jobs to turn pro. They all failed.

Not easy to be a pro punter,I knew a guy packed in his job to do just that, nerves were shredded shortly and started doubting his selections. Crazy

you can only quit your job if you have the holy grail

I don't know the guy and will probably never meet him but I thought Shane Reville came across really well in the interviews.

He came across as an unassuming, everyday bloke who has built on his passion amd interest to make it a living for him and fair play to him. From working in betting shops, trading rooms shows he's put a good grounding in and I liked that he was very quick to put a lot of praise on learning from Alex Farquhar which I thought showed a lot of humility and affirms that he's somebody who puts the work in and has stood the test of time.

Like Andy Holding who mentions Steve Gough as somebody who he saw as a mentor when starting out, it seems this is a big assistance in getting better and more consistent results.

He was asked how much of his bank he would have on if offered 5/2 heads . He said a lot of it -but Kelly criterion says 30% .
I thought his 30k a week turnover was backing -didn't get the impression he laid. If so assuming a 5% profit on turnover (that's what Billy Hill is supposed to have made) then thats a profit of around £1500 a week tax free -or £80k a year -but I'd assume he'd have non gambling weeks -and of course it ain't guaranteed.

Does anybody in this day and age actually put any stock in the Kelly criterion stuff though?

Moreso, if you're actually getting 5/2 on an even money chance.........

He traded as Macbet on tye Scottish and Northern circuit. I'd doubt he would be at Newton Abbott.

less pressure if you have a second income or part time job , having something coming every week win or lose  takes the" must win " burden off the back .bills still need paying win or lose.

I doubt it Somerset, it's a case of supply and demand isn't it, the demand isn't there on course anymore unfortunately.
