Being run at aintree. 29 of the 34 runners irish trained. Maybe 28. Leaving only 5 or maximum 6 British trained. Yet more evidence that national hunt racing in the UK is in serious steep decline.
uk has fav and you scrub aline through 90% of the elliot entries, most running on ratings achieved yrs ago,but hey their qualified so we,ll run them, if he,d got younger better handicapped horses with better chances he,d scratch half of these old plodders, once again just a numbers game

These old timers are the punters worst enemy. Half the time they won't put it in so they drop down the handicap. Then one day they feel like it and win half the track. Next time they run it's back to the plod plod not today thank you.
Unless they're running consistently you don't know how they're likely to go.

I rarely look at big fields. If you follow form then you need to look at them all, which takes too long. And there will always be unexposed horses running especially if the prize is big.
I understand these well handicapped runners are the kind that pricewise tips.
In that case, what they haven't done, is more important than what they have done.
Which makes a nonsense of looking for those with the best form.
