I suspect idiotic Health & Safety rules are in place as well preventing racing going ahead. If its not life threatening like a broken leg couldn't they treat the person in the medical room and call a local ambulance rather than use the jockeys one?

Sunset in Newbury today is 6.24 pm. They'll have to decide soon. I've tied up 80% of my bank on a massive bet on this race & can't trade out to recover it so very limited investing for me until this is resolved.

The NHS in my area is particularly bad waiting for an ambulance. But even worse there's a 10 month wait for an abortion on the NHS!

I was at Newbury 2011 when some horses got electrocuted in the parade ring. The way they handled everything that day was a joke. Newbury authorities have form.

Mr Manoleeds- might happen- BUT- in the last 5 years I've been in NHS Hospitals where the blood pressure machines are beeping all over the place because the batteries need charging or replacing. What a state we're in!

Duffy / Wondersobright.... Yes thats right they ran the first race which was ridiculous in itself and then left us all in limbo before telling us to clear off. If I remember correctly we then had to wait for ages for a train to turn up before everybody was crammed in like sardines.
I've never been back to Newbury since. I wonder how many more felt the same as me that day and never returned.

Yes Kid Cassidy was one of the horses....good memory!

I’m at Newbury, and I’ve been told that the injured party is in fact the ambulance driver.

Only a rumour, mind you.

I just don't get it. If someone in the stands at a football game suffered a

heart attack would the game be held up like this?

We are officially at the point where if they could resume now (delay + 15 minutes to get down to the start) then the final race would be after sunset.

So I think this meeting is over folks.

This would be news any day and it is a very good card (or would have been) GB racing just can't get any luck recently. When they do put on a good meeting the Irish win 70% of the races. Mick is back so perhaps we can have this very good hurdle race although the horses will have scrambled brains.

This is Pathetic TBH ,fooking 2024 ,you would think we were back in 18 th century

Quite a few fans sadly suffered cardiac events at football games. At most the matches were held up for 30 mins. Usually the medics at the ground treated the person in question whilst waiting for the local ambulance to turn up. How is this different? Please someone educate me here....
The Newbury authorities are a complete joke.

Kid Cassidy suffered an electric shock , still raced, and was never the same again.

The electrocuted horses were Marching Song and Fenix Two/

I hope the individual concerned has been seen too and in a comfortable position. But, still a shamble if an ambulance (or driver) cannot be forthcoming. Poor planning.
