In My Life is a good choice with that harpsichord sound achieved by a piano played at x2 in the middle.

I was thinking the winner of the 6.00 must be named after a classic 60s hit
When Jesamine goes, a part of me knows I'm not really living A butterfly child, so free and so wild And so full of living But no, it's a slightly different spelling - Butterfly Jasmine, not Jesamine. |

stewarts rise - I think New York, New York was originally written for Cabaret the musical and first sung by Liza Minelli, Judy Garland`s daughter, but I may be wrong.

The original is my favourite Beatles song but I'll share what I consider is the best cover that any other Artist has done of any of their songs.

Been watching this with great interest and some fantastic suggestions.
For me. Penny Lane . A Day In The Life. Kurt Elling's cover of Norwegian Wood is worth a listen. |

Hard to imagine. I discovered Martha My Dear a few years ago. Couldn't believe it - a throw away album filler! These guys weren't human. |

Fun fact - apparently Paul wrote Let It Be & Long and Winding Road on the same day!

If that's true, incredible!

Revolution In The Head” by the late Ian McDonald - I read it & couldn't believe it.

I saw The Beatles live at the Hammersmith Odeon in the late sixties. Trouble was, I'd been spoilt by Elvis long before they were formed. The Beatles were okay the night I saw them, but not a patch on The King. Go into anywhere karaoke in the world - everyone sings Elvis. No one sings the Beatles. George Wheeler (Jockeypedia Founder)

A few tribute acts - Bootleg Beatles the most famous?
I don't think they performed live again after 1966, so it was probably a bit earlier when you saw them, JP. |

In Arthur Goldman's character assassination biography, The Lives of John Lennon, he wasn't complimentary about Lennon's musicianship, saying you couldn't hear him on rhythm guitar.
He seemed to play well at the Toronto concert in 1969, but maybe that was more Eric Clapton. What Beatles song would you sing at a karaoke? A nice easy one imo - Yesterday. |
|
By:
When drunk ... my go to karaoke go to song is The Beatles "I call your name"... not one of their better known tunes..
.. but quite easy to sing |

Penny Lane, that was the name of Roy of the Rovers wife
but Penny Lane must be up there with the rest of the fab four greatest songs ,written in London i believe ,but the song is about a street in Liverpool and the Barber shop is still there.Great song....................................... |

The documentary released in 2019 The Beatles: Get Back is what I think you are asking about is very long. PQ is good and it seemed to me the whole reason was for the rooftop concert at the end. Worth getting just for that.

Jockeypedia, don't think you can really compare a solo singer like Elvis to The Beatles, yes he was a fabulous singer no doubt, i loved his gospel singing and his ballads more than his early rock and roll myself. The Beatles were a group of super talented musicians and song writers. As for Karaoke, i'd think Elvis songs are easier to sing and has far more impersonators than the Beatles complex songs.
I have a pal 81 who won't have anyone to compare with Frank Sinatra and earlier people would have said Bing Crosby, so it's all subjective and down to personal taste i guess. |

Jealous Guy, Lennon classic!

It is alleged that John Lennon said that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles. However, it has been proved that John Lennon did not say that even though many in the industry thought the contents of the saying were true!

Regarding Elvis, he was brilliant in the early days but come 1960 when he joined the army he just started singing for our parents and it was such a shame for the fans who made him famous.

Awful band and awfuls songs!

Presume you're not from that Era FBS?

To call Elvis simply "a talented singer" is to completely miss the reason for his iconic position in out musical culture.
Watch the Chuck Berry concert on youtube to see what he - the absolute God of Rock and Roll - what he thought of the Beatles. |
