I wouldn't place lay, my numbas say he's strong.

Just watched the race again….strange….think I’ll give the place lay a miss and just watch the antics….

My numbas say fav wins or very likely to top 2, so I'll back 2 places for safety. Second place Higher law.

Yeah but it's similar to those rags who lose by 50 lengths LTO and then win at 6/4

In this case I ultimately opted for a lay because 1 day really is no time to improve a horse magically.

The sample size of big steamers from 1 day off is really tiny to make any conclusions.

its very difficult to make a profit from pretend bets

200 lay, lost my money, i'll soon get it back with a 300 lay, and then a 500 lay .  As if !!

Gaze will soon be inducted into the Fantasy Island hall of fame.

Would you care to explain how please? I'm not saying it  (or any other horse) is unbackable as I often take leaps of faith, just that it is unbackable on form and therefore any 'numbers'?  You then place lay a  horse that is strong in your numbers - you can't have much faith in those numbers.
Sometimes a horse is backed not on form or numbers and this is clearly one of those cases. Surely you would have taken the 20's yesterday (or bigger on here) having spotted that a horse strong on your numbers was such a price, you certainly would have had something at bigger prices when it started to be backed.

Of course he was weak on paper, but I have been burned countless times laying horses that steam from double digits to fav status, that's what makes them strong.
But in this case I made a judgement call that the horse couldn't have improved that much in 1 day so I laid him. If he was off 30 days I woulda place backed him.

A horse that didn't place in 8 out of 8 career runs can't be numerically strong, only those in the know would back him in the evening.
