Out of station, walk down to the left of Morrisons, takes you straight into the pedestrianised centre, 5 or 10 minutes walk
There's an alley down the side of Marks and Spencer that has oldy worldy restaurants and leads you to the magnificent cathedral
It's a taxi ride from the centre or even the station to the track

Don't know if you're staying overnight but there is an infamous pub not far from the centre called "the barrels"... Nothing special but good real ales and very friendly

Nothing standout to recommend, imo, but lovely city

Just to add, I don't work for the tourist board
I was working in the Hereford area for 25 years and rented a flat for staying midweek until recently

Good evening reg

Your totally underplaying barrels I’ve been in to many pubs in my life but if I could choose just one to go in ,then by some distance it would be barrels

I also don’t work for the tourist board Hereford is a great city

Evening jimnast, hope you are well

It was my midweek local for the last 3 years up until January

And only 2.50 a pint as well as being friendly

Do or did you get in there a bit?

Not been in for a couple of years reg but use to go in whenever Hereford was on we would go the night before racing also did a 4 night stay prior to the festival in 2018.
I know preferred the butty Bach but it was the hpa I had followed by a curry opposite

I always remember the bar staff been huge lads certainly no need for bouncers

Those big lads not there anymore but never seen trouble in there anyway
There's usually a few of the 'regiment', past or present, in there who would probably help out if ever required
The Indian next door and opposite both very good
As the barrels don't do food, they allow people to get a takeaway from the Indian and eat it in the beer garden

All round quality pub.

Yes of course a few of the regiment will pop in ,good to see pubs using common sense regarding the food we have one around here which don’t do food but do keep a few plates around and are happy to give them out.
