We are in a situation at present, like we have been for quite some time now, whereby the only time horse racing gets a mention in the mainstream media is when there is a fatality.

Unfortunately, today is another example of this.

I find this sort of selective reporting by the big media outlets (it started with the BBC many years ago) as depressing and deeply frustrating. All it does is fuel the anti-racing brigade, further feeding the mentality to many non-racing folk that the sport is 'cruel'.

I also find is somewhat deeply ironic that many of the national newspapers this morning, and over the next three days, will be plastered with betting tips and free bet advertisements for the Cheltenham festival.

How sickening that the same outlets lambast the sport at every given opportunity, but are seemingly very happy to take money from bookmakers in terms of advertisements.

Personally, I believe the blame lies firmly with the BHA and others who run the sport. They have done nothing but bend over backwards to appease and accommodate the views of the lefty, woke critics of our much loved sport and bow down to their ill though out demands.

Just look at the Grand National, for example.

The BHA can make as many changes as they like to the Grand National, or even whip rules for that matter. It all looks good on the face of it, but the truth of the matter is that those who oppose racing won't be happy until it is banned in its entirety.

It's high time the people at the top started to defend the sport we all love; as to do anything other than this would be an insult to the countless number of stable staff who dedicate their lives to the care of these wonderful animals whom they love so dearly.

Well said.

I thought it was odd, too, that the ITV main evening news chose to report on a fatality at the festival when they don't report on fatalities on other days.

My main concern is that we have now gone past the point of no return. Liberal ideology has spread like cancer through society. Many of our once great institutions, universities, schools etc have been indoctrinated with this way of thinking. Sadly, it's the way the whole western world has gone.
